COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgium’s St Feuillien Brewery. This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character. The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients. Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices. Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect. The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.
Grand Cru’s delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.
When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances. When it hits the palate, Grand Cru creates a lingering moment of hoppiness, rounded off by an intense yet pleasant bitterness.

Bigboy bottle at the airport. Duty-free poured in to plastic cups whilst watching ’Buried’ on the Kindle fire. A farewell beer waiting on the plane to Prague. Pours hazy Golden Yellow with a durable White head. Fruity aroma with a bit of doughy spice character. A touch of citrus and plenty of dry peppery yeast notes. Nice enough. Given the circumstances.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2015 St. Feuillien Grand Cru, uitgeschonken in trappist bokaal.

bottle at home. Pours clear light golden yellow with a long head retention. Aroma is distinctively yeast, some malt and subtle curacao. Medium body, nice balance between the spicy character and the sweetness, which makes it very drinkbable, despite a small heat at the end. Taste is malty and little bit of spice.

Robe dorée, légèrement opaque. Mousse bien.

0.75 l bottle with champagne cork from Brussels Airport shop. Pale yellow colour with big head. Taste has some sweetness from the alcohol and some citrus like flavour from the added C vitamin. There is also some dryness and flavours from the malts and the yeast. I would have liked some hoppiness.

Aroma is not what I expected. It was not nearly as fruity as the style would be, Pours a light gold colour with lots of head that disapears quickly. Taste was absent of fruity notes, which I highly enjoyed. Good amount of carbonation. Overall I was not disappointed. For a bear pushing 10% alcohol, you would hardly notice. Would buy again. MB

Ljubljanski Festival Piva 2015. Golden body I reckon, small head. Spicy aroma, solid maltiness. Spicy (from the yeast I reckon) taste, malty, light banana, dryish, hops, light alcohol burn, slightly dusty. Hm. Wasn’t as impressed as I’d hoped I’d be.

22-MAY-2015, bottle @home, from a wine joint (Laudrup? cannon remember) that also keeps beer, bought by Max, thx.:-) Hazy golden with high white head that dies fast. Aroma is fruity yeast. A little spice. Taste is very fruity malty. Typical Belgian style with dried fruit. Very nice. High carbonation, medium+ body, sweet, bitter.
