Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgium’s St Feuillien Brewery. This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character. The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients. Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices. Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect. The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.
Grand Cru’s delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.
When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances. When it hits the palate, Grand Cru creates a lingering moment of hoppiness, rounded off by an intense yet pleasant bitterness.

Bottle. I forget where I bought this, but it’s been inadvertently aging in the back of my fridge for a couple of years. pours golden with a half inch of white foam. leaves a lot of lacing in my glass. has a bit of champagne yeast thing on the nose along with some grassy hoppiness. Really soft carbonation on the tongue. hides it’s alcohol well. Fairly smooth on the tongue at this point ut with some nice hop notes on the finish to keep things interesting. Nice.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the LCBO. Pale cloudy yellow with a huge fluffy white head that fades slowly leaving minimal lace. Nose is yeast, banana and dried fruit with lighter hints of piney hops and some spice. Medium spicy with some tartness with light bitterness and lighter sweetness in the front. Bitterness builds in the long finish. Light creamy mouth with prickly carbonation. Quite complex and enjoyable.

16.7.2014. Golden, pale, clear. Sophisticated aroma has wineish elements. Yeast, some kind of fruits and even grapes, bitterish hops. Taste is light and intriguing. Smooth, soft carbonation, fruits, some sourness and bitterness, herbs and subtle spices. Medium sweet. On the better side of strong belgi ales.

Hazy yellow-gold with substantial effervescence. 2 inches of yellowing sea-foam head, frothy, moderate coarseness. Aroma is peach muffin with some barnyard and tart hay. Flavor is apricot, light phenolic notes, dry, slightly chalky grain, hint of minerals, moderate candy sweetness, a smooth bitterness that is fairly neutral (that is, it does not evoke herbs, trees, flowers, fruit). Body is oily, slightly gritty, medium heavy weight, moderate-intense carbonation, moderate burn, moderate coarseness. A bit too heavy and sweet for the style / yeast in my opinion.

Pours cloudy amber gold with off-white head,small-medium that reduces quickly but leaves persistent, attractive skim and lacing. Nose is lager-like, yeasty but clean with hop notes. Palate is bread and honey balanced by hop bitterness. Interesting to see the references to spices here, since the brewery makes the point that this is deliberately not spiced. Banana notes come through with aeration, but even more than flavor, the pronounced impression is creaminess. The mild sweetness followed by mild bitterness resembles a second-rate chardonnay, but the smooth, filling texture takes this to a better place. This is an excellent example of the traditional use of hops to enliven what otherwise could be an overly sweet beverage. They make an excellent counterpoint without brutalizing the palate;

Golden and clear as day with a head that dissipates rather quickly. Aroma is dried fruit. Taste is quite foresty, with flowers and pine needles. Well-hopped.
