COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgiumís St Feuillien Brewery. This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character. The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients. Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices. Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect. The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.
Grand Cruís delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.
When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances. When it hits the palate, Grand Cru creates a lingering moment of hoppiness, rounded off by an intense yet pleasant bitterness.

Bottled, BB 10/2015, large sample. Slight hazy golden color, big rocky white head. Aroma of spicy yeast, high fusels, bit flowery and earthy hop. Almost Duvel like. Soft bitterness in taste, bit dry, fruity, hint of grainy malt. Quite typical strong belgian blonde, but very well balanced and without metallic oxidation notes or overfuselly high alcohols. Good brew.

Pours a hazed yellow with a fat head of fizzy off white foam that pops noisily and slowly leaving a thin layer of loose bubbles on top. A we sheet of lace falls back into the beer with each sip. The nose is heavenly with a strong yeast funk, a deep fruitiness like sweetened apricot and a bit of pepper and spice. Taste is sparkling. The carbonation sparkles, the fruits glow softly and sweetly and the malt is a touch of light brown sugar. A bit of lemon shows up as the beer warms. There is a mild peppery bite to finish this one off dry and with an aftertaste that is like from a sweet pastry. Right before the swallow the yest imparts a bit of sour or crushed aspirin but itís not too strong or forceful and it really heightens the finish of the beer.

The warmth you feel from drinking this beer is not from alcohol but rather from the baked fruit sweetness and from the complexity in the yeast. This yeast is bit funky, a bit dry, a bit earthy and imparts that sour dough rising smell to the beer that I just love. A bit of wood too and I just did a paragraph on the yeast alone! The fruits and their complexity along with a delicate yet present mouthfeel are the reward to the palate and this beer is an instant favorite.

@ A Taste of Belgium / Cincinnati OH --- Cloudy glowin g golden amber with a 3" white head, streaks and bits of lace. Taste is strong wheat and malt with citrus and coriander. Light fizz and bitters join in at the finish to bring things into a beautiful balance. Strong, clean, well-balanced, excellent brew. High recommendations.

Iíve noticed St. Feuillien as a very fine Belgian brewery before, and this brew manages to confirms my opinion. Tasty aroma of light fruits, yeast, citrus, spices ("Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices." Uhm, yeah.). Flavour is medium fruity sweetness with only a hint of the alcohol inherent to this beer. Actually, itís a surprisingly easy drinker (watch out!).

2013-02-08. Crisp bright yellow body with a large foamy white head. 3++ Aroma is lightly alcoholic, pale malt. Flavour is relatively alcoholic, sweetish pale malt core, mild bitterness grows in the finish amplified by the alcohol. Average plus bodied palate, effervescent carbonation suits it. Pretty decent take on the style, alcoholic shows itself just a touch more than I would like even if it is suitable for the style. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto
