Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgium’s St Feuillien Brewery. This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character. The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients. Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices. Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect. The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.
Grand Cru’s delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.
When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances. When it hits the palate, Grand Cru creates a lingering moment of hoppiness, rounded off by an intense yet pleasant bitterness.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep golden color ale with a nice pure white foamy head with good retention and some excellent lacing. Aroma consists of sweet malt with some floral dry hops with light alcohol warming notes. Taste is also a mix of warming alcohol notes with some sweet malt with surprisingly dominant dry and floral hops notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad overall though maybe a tad too much sugar and alcohol coming through.

Poured from a 33cl bottle at Academie de la Biere in Paris. Pours a hazy golden yellow with thick white head that dissipates slowly leaving some pretty lacing. Smell is a bit weak, but has some good caramel and yeast smell. Taste is a good blend, some caramel honey flavour mixed with some decently balanced hops. Palate is about average, with some stronger carbonation and a slightly bitter hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

33cl bottle: best before 6th Sep 2013, poured into a Hoegaarden Grand Cru badged glass. Cloudy lemon coloured body: huge white crown on top, line upon line of carbonisation bubbles rising through the glass. The nose is yeasty and a sweet citrus hops blend, interesting. The taste continued where the smells began: semi-sweet flavour with yeast and hop hints. The alcohol hides nicely in the background and only shows towards the end of each sip.

This Belgian Strong Ale pours with a sweet aroma and light complexion with a big fast disapearing head. The beer is sweet on the tongue with a long lingering palate. Hints of syrup and melon are left lingering in the back of the mouth!

Pours clear golden color with small head. Aroma of fruits, belgian yeast and grass. Flavor of ripe fruits, honey notes and grassy hops, mild caramel also. The alcohol comes through a bit too much. Like a stronger version of Chimay Triple.

Clear light blond beer, white head. Not much aroma. Taste is nothing special, can’t really name anything. Body is nice, carbo too.

This beer to me is somewhere between a normal pilsner and a triple. The head was gone and the pale yellow is a color I don’t particularly like, but the rest of the beer is good. I especially enjoy the nice smooth palate and the subtle grassy taste. Gives you a kick. Bottle from De Schans in Uithoorn.
