COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grand Cru is a speciality beer carefully crafted by Belgium’s St Feuillien Brewery. This extra-blond amber nectar masterpiece undergoes refermentation in the bottle, resulting in a beer endowed with unforgettable character. The secret lies in the unique combination of the most noble hops and the finest aromatic ingredients. Grand Cru differs from other beers in the range by its absence of spices. Its full, white head is light and frothy, and when poured it creates a subtle lace effect. The very pale colour of Grand Cru lends clarity and brilliance to its body.
Grand Cru’s delicate nose is a veritable cascade of hoppy aromas with hints of fruitiness coupled with subtlety and sheer richness.
When savoured, the first sip is light and intriguing. The next impression is one of a slight bitterness full of captivating nuances. When it hits the palate, Grand Cru creates a lingering moment of hoppiness, rounded off by an intense yet pleasant bitterness.

Bottle. Hazy orangeish gold pour with a fluffy white head that lasts a while. Aroma is a little grainy with notes of orange, honey, pepper, clove and toffee. Flavour is very similar to the aroma, with a little sweetness tempered by some spicy, peppery notes and some hints of grass, lemon and elderflower. Medium bodied with rather high carbonation and a lingering spicy finish. Very well made beer, especially for this style, it’s straightforward yet still quite complex, and dangerously drinkable given the abv.

A tall albeit large-bubbled, friable white foam settles above the pale golden cloudiness. Elegantly yeasty nose with a fair bit of spiciness, perhaps a bit too much in the sense that it attenuates the farmhousey foundation. Coriander notes feel very forward compared to their other fine blondes where I always assumed none was used. It adds a certain perfume, but steals the show a bit for the otherwise graceful pils malts, feeling fresh, hay-like and being perfectly complemented by above average hops by belgian standards, the noble spicy, herbal type that fits pils malts so well. The initial mouth attack feels a bit sweeter than I’d like, having honeyed softly biscuity notes that approach vanilla, especially combined with the perfumey, floral spices. Coming into play, the hops do provide a drying impression towards the finish which feels more spicy than anything else. Carbonation is actually less vibrant than I anticipated, showcasing malt flavours and residual sugars furthermore. A fine strong Belgian golden ale, but perhaps a bit below what I had hoped from a brewer I respect a lot. I’m more fond of the regular straightforward Blonde and Tripel.

Pours gold into a snifter. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Fruity yeast and citrus aromas. Sweet hay and biscuit upfront turning to sweet summer fruit, citrus and yeast in the dry, lasting finish.

Bottled. Hazy yellow color that starts with a nice white head and then keeps a lace until the end l. Aroma is citrus, malty and a bit of yeast. Flavor is dry and a bit alcohol sensation, but so alarming! Mouthfeel is sweet dry! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone 4S

Straw colored pour. Small white head that quickly drops. Like it’s hot. No lacing. Slight malt aroma behind big alcohol. And slight chemical aroma. Taste is sweet with the same chemical taste, almost turpentine in nature. Stays with throughout. A sweet back with a little bitterness. Not the best.

Aroma staat voor lychees, meloen en wat citrus. Smaak is prachtig, met mineaola, wat peperige witte wijn en gember met droge, licht limoen afdronk. Behoorlijk complex, qua zoet, bitter en zuur. Textuur is prima.
