3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Borresteijn (3651) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 13, 2012
Tap sample at In de Wildeman. Reddish brown colour, light beige head. Aroma of fruity esters, fusels, alcohol, caramel. Flavour is rather sweet, sugar, typical SF, caramel, light toasted malts, bitter alcohol, light fruity, light malty and alcohol bitter finish. Light to medium-bodied. Not bad for SF, but again too sweet to be really enjoyable.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 erickok (2292) - Tours, FRANCE - JUL 6, 2012
Dark ruby red and a big tan head. Toffee, nutty, toast, Belgian yeast but not super expressive. Medium sweet palate and nicer taste. Light roasty end. Dried fruits. Still refreshing due to the carbonation and hop backup. Nice! (On tap at Ledig Erf)

Draft. A dark red, ruby coloured beer with a mocha coloured, medium sized head. Malty aroma followed by licorice and molasses. Flavour has a full sweetened body with malty sweetness in presence as well. Very sweet, but still easy drinkable and not cloying at all.. Nice suprise...

Malty Scotch ale, fairly standard attempt but a bit too cloyingly sweet to be a session beer. Average

On tap at Wildeman. Was very excited to try as St-Feuillien is a great brewery. But this was very much subpar. Dark brown with thin head. Nose is sweet and sour. Taste is sweet. Quite carbonated. Water. Some cherries in the finish. Not so nice.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (2365) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2012
March 2010: 25cl brown bottle, one of a four pack I bought for my son (Ben). Poured into a Gordons thistle shaped glass.
Dark ruby red body, clear and bright, tanned foaming head.
Sweet rich treacle smells, toffee, molasses and sugar, very sweet stuff.
The taste is also extremely sweet, those treacle/toffee/molasses all appear in your mouth from the first sip until the last.
The mouthfeel is just too sweet, the beer is just too sweet.
