St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

11.2 ounce can. Lousy peach color with a small bubbly white head that disappears quickly. Fruity malty nose with slight yeast undertones. Tart fruity malt flavor. Yeasty notes with a hint of apricot and white pepper. Grassy hops in finish. There is a subtle barnyard funkiness throughout that provides an earthy character. Well made and a pleasant quaff.

Pours a very cloudy, dark golden orange color with a half finger off-white head that immediately fades. Poor retention with minimal to no lacing. Slightly earthy, musty aroma with a blend of peppery spice, bread/yeast and light fruit esters. Farmhouse funky yeast with grass, straw and barnyard along with pepper, clove, banana bread, and apple. Opens up nicely after warming to an appropriate temperature. On the lighter end of medium bodied with soft carbonation and a zesty, peppery spice presence that lingers over the subtle funk, yeast and light fruit notes into a slightly dry finish. Strong spice character up front with pepper, coriander and ginger flavor which is nicely complimented by sweet citrus rind toward the finish. Slightly dry and earthy farmhouse presence with grass, straw and very subtle funk. Decent bready yeast character with banana and minimal bubblegum flavor. Sweet ester-y light fruit notes towards the finish, notably apple and pear along with tart and crisp lemon/citrus peel. Well balanced decently complex with a well masked ABV. Refreshing and very easy to drink. Another solid beer from this under appreciated brewery.

Nice unfiltered hazy gold/wheat color with minimal white foam. Aromas of malt, hops, dry, wheat and grass. Palate, medium texture with high carbonation, leaves long dry hoppy finish. Taste of hops, malt and grass. Overall nice beer, summery, quite hoppy and dry. Nice to try but I have had nicer sasions beffore.

I was rather surprised by this fresh and lively Saison. It pours a dark glass of brown beer and has a nice refreshing and full aroma.
