COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

It pours a cloudy pale orange color with a white head. It has strong fruit aromas with oranges and citrus being present. There are some floral aromas present as the orange aroma becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. There are flavors or orange and citrus with some floral flavors. The is a wee bit or tart accent in the flavors as well. There are hints of spice in the flavors as well. The feel is on the light side of moderate, it has a dry finish with a small bit of tart on the palate.

Cloudy and golden with very small white foam. Aromas of fresh cocking apples, elderflower and subtle honey. Taste, quite bitter, simple with aftertaste of unripe mellon. Palate, medium body, dry and highly carbonated. Overall heavier than expected for paler ale, not something I would usually go for.

At Maakun’s place. Frisse melkzuur/gist smaak. Kruidig. Ik moet aan Gageleer denken door die kruiden (gagel?). In de nasmaak een korreltje zeezout. Backlog from 2015/05/15.

Can from the brewer, hazy amber with a big fluffy head, aromas of bread, spice and a hint of toast, reminiscent of an Ur-weisse. Hoppy, peppery and lightly farmy, touches of toasted caramel, faint orange apricot. Delicious.

11.2 ounce can. Lousy peach color with a small bubbly white head that disappears quickly. Fruity malty nose with slight yeast undertones. Tart fruity malt flavor. Yeasty notes with a hint of apricot and white pepper. Grassy hops in finish. There is a subtle barnyard funkiness throughout that provides an earthy character. Well made and a pleasant quaff.
