St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

Pours murky golden orange with an off-white head. The aroma is very bready and rich with light stone fruits - fairly one dimensional. It has a medium smooth lush body with lots of soft carbonation. It starts off with toasty malt, breadiness, spices, mushiness and overripe fruits. The finish has some basement must. Okay saison.

Clear gold - yellow color with wonderful white head. Nice aroma. Notes of spicy, yeasts, pepper, lemons and oranges, grains. High carbonation with fresh mouthfeel, medium body. Flavours of grains, yeasts, lemons,a bit salty and spicy, some citrus. Refreshing and very drinkable beer.

Not what I look for in a saison and not really matching the description on the bottle either. Pours a light coppery-brown with a decent white head. Pleasant aroma but not anything special, standard yeast and grain aromatics. Good carbonation, dry and a little spicey at first but finishes malty with the kind of syrupy, cloying sweetness that I’d expect from a triple or quadruple but not a saison.

Flaske 330ml fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø Sentrum. Gyldenbrun. Høyt tett skum som varer. Litt lacing. Svakt fruktig aroma med en anelse krydder. Smaken er parfyme. Litt vassen.

Light with some slight peppery and lemony flavor. Has a pretty standard saison yeast flavor, though rather mild. The milt grain tastes very basic and not interesting.

Pours a golden apple color filled with sediment that hangs in the liquid. Delicious spiced apple aroma. Tastes like apple cider, slightly warm, a little sour. Extremely dry, almost astringent on the finish. Could have been really good, but the appearance and aftertaste are off-putting. Maybe I just got a bad batch?

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Warm yellow gold colour, typical high carbonation and big head. Spicy yeast aroma with a slight fruity note. Taste is drier, crisp, not overly bitter or hoppy. Very drinkable. Nice.

Forfriskende øl med aroma av sitrus og banan. Ligner weissbier, men ikke så kunstig. God friskhet, lett bitterhet og sødme. God kullsyre. (Jomfruland, 22.06.14)

Hmm...not totally convinced by this. Pleasant enough tart apple and sweetness, but missing the spices hit and rasping bitter finish of my favourite saisons. Has some salt and pepper but I’d prefer a bit more spice. Good, not great.
