St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

Corked bottle and served in Duvel snifter: Pours an initial pale golden hue with a fluffly fizzy head and some spotty lace. The aroma is olde skool, lots of rustic notes of grains, earth, slight soured notes, some mild spice, and a forceful classic bitterness. The taste is again very traditional farmhouse with plenty of rustic character of smooth and old growth grains, mild sublime bitters, and yeast doing what it does. Is this a beer that like the "enhanced" Saison I had before it that will make you give hard thought? No, but what it does is provide a quiet comfort well showing what is all good in the beer world but being more sum than parts which IMO is how you judge a great farmhouse ale. The mouth feel is lively and crisp without being in your face. A damn solid Saison and one that some how missed being rated by me even though I have drank this many times before.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2013 Bottle to my Sierra Nevada Tulip glass. Pours clear pale orange with a big foamy soapy white head that slowly fades to a film and spotty lacing. Aroma is bright citrus lemongrass and stale bubblegum. Taste has some spice with a light citrus lemon and subtle tart and bitter hops. It then finishes with some biscuit and pepper. Palate is full with plenty of carbonation and a very nice dry finish. Solid!

A cloudy golden color with a white foamy head. It has a nice floral aroma with a bit of dough. The flavor is a bit sweet and yeasty, with a nice, slightly sweet, hoppy aftertaste.

Opaque an dgolden reddish beer with no carbonation and a weak head. Citric yeasty smell with subtle hints of peach or mandarin. Typical saison bitterness and dryness. It has a good balance of water and bitterness and some sweetness. Hints of spices, white pepper and some fruitiness. Interesting fusion of abbey and saison.
