St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

Pours hazy with a mild aroma. Flavor is sharp fruit and very clean, somewhat soapy but finishes dry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours translucent orange with a thick white head. Medium bodied and a crisp, inviting palate. Good carb. Citrus and spice aroma compliments a similar flavor profile, adding some bread and wheat. The familiar saison funk rounds out the medley.

From the bottle, first pours run very clear gold / deep gold, perhaps a bit darker and more than the stereotypical saison shade. Nose gives off tropical fruit, a bit of bready yeast. It comes alive, though, in the mouth, with phenolic notes that blend to a lovely rustic character, just a touch of barnyard that remains very rewarding and fun to drink. Wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I did.

bread, hay, grass, barnyard, amber, hazy, frothy, white foam, light sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, light body, oily feel, lively. Smell and taste seem separated. Smell is very malty, yet taste is fresh fruity. Very nice summer beer

Bottle from Wines & More Mansfield. Pours out a deep orange color with an inch-thick off white head. Very good looking. Aroma of spice and glue. Flavor is complex. Interesting yeast profile. Slighty fruity but bitter - like biting into an unripened peach. Not citrusy. Not too sweet. Body is medium, heavier at the bottom of the bottle. Finishes clean, but yeasty.

750ml bottle. Not too heavy in the nose, just a bit of herbal tea-like aroma, very faint floral tinges, some straw and light sweetness. Semi-cloudy golden in color with a very fine head, no lacing to speak of, though. Very balanced flavor profile, only briefly sweet, then a bit cake-like, some herbal tones and light spice, with faint banana, pineapple and a very light touch of bitterness at the finish. Effervescent and refreshing on the palate, body is medium. Very tasty and refined example of less being more -- subtlety is key.
