COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

Light orange colored, little yellow head. Nice grassy hopped, dry aroma with lemon and some yeast with some barnyard touch. Medium bodied, crispy palate. Flavor is excellent as well with similar grassy hops dominating, lemon and some peachy exotic fruit here too.

Lightly-clouded tangerine-orange with thin off-white head that fades moderately-quickly to nothing. Considerable flaky sediment in suspension. Aroma is chalky, spicy phenolics (also present in the flavor). These are not overdone, like in some American versions of the style, but are rather blended in nicely with plain white bread and some Mandarin orange (again, both flavor and aroma.) The aroma has more of a lake-water vibe in the finish, while the flavor has a light touch of orange-peel bitterness that is in no way astringent. Body is medium, oily-watery and lightly gritty. medium-light carbonation of moderate coarseness, slightly flat tasting, medium burn. Overall, a good saison. Not necessarily distinguishable from a simple Belgian ale (lacking barnyard funk, grain adjuncts, etc.) Excellent use of phenols, though. Normally those turn me off.

33cl bottle @ home, gift from Balazs, many thanks. Body is clear to hazy, pale to orange, fizzy, big particles, Head is very big, rocky, off-white, mostly lasting, good lacing. Nose is floral, Aroma is honey, fruity, parfume, belgian yeast, malty. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter. Finish is average lasting fruity medium bitter-sweet, light alcohol warmth. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Easy belgian style beer, not bad.

Light amber pour. Off white head appears quickly and leaves the same. Nose shows lightly caramelized malt, some spice, and Belgian yeast. A touch sweet. Middle is orange sherbert , hint of liquorice. A slightly citrus hoppy finish closes this one out. A good beer, but seemed sweet for the style to me.

This was poured into a sniter. The appearance was a nice looking glazed over hazy orange color with a half fingered white foamy head that dissipated within about a quick finger minute. Barely any lacing formed after the head dissipated. The smell had a nice sweet earthy and bready sweet conglomeration of citrus and a slight sweet/spicy connotation of slight coriander. The taste led to a nice sweet and slightly breadiness leading to slight sticky and somewhat dry sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionabiity about it. About a light to medium on the body. Overall, I say this was a pretty good saison I believe I could have again.

Bottle from Wine of Galilee in Tallinn (€ 2.25). BB 13.03.2016. A slightly hazy hay colour. Huuuge bright white head, recedes quickly, leaving very little lacing. Nose is strong hay and citrus fruits, herbal, wheaty (although wheat is not included in the ingredients) and yeasty, doughy, with a little bit of orange peel, some light peppery, and floral-bubblegum notes as well. Taste is malty hay, sweet citrus fruits (tangerines, oranges), with some not very pleasant stale graininess... Body lighter side of medium, carbonation average plus, palate grainy and dry, finishes malty and floral sweet and stale, with very little bitterness. I must say, to me this is a disappointment...
