COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

Cloudy orange color, sweet malty taste, thin-to-no head. Belgian fruity yeast aroma, but I expect more spicy than fruity yeast.

Clear orange copper color with fine pored white foam layer. The smell is fresh, hoppy spicy and hints of sourness. The taste is very light, refreshing and a little peppery with a nice bitterness without being tart. The aftertaste is cool and a bit herbal. Very nice beer.

330ml bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a Duvel tulip. Beautiful clear dark honey color with a touch of haze and huge soapy white head that leaves a rim throughout. This beer looks gorgeous. Nose is all saison yeast with some clove, grass and white pepper. Lively carbonation with a medium to light body. Great mouthfeel with some creaminess present towards the end. Crisp and refreshingly dry. Starts off with just a hint of salt and ending with a mild sweetness. The yeast really stands out throughout. A really nice saison that isn’t overly sweet and has a nice 6.5% ABV.

On tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. Aroma of malts and a bit of straw. Typical notes of saison, a bit sour, a bit vinegar, quite good.

Robe blonde orangé et limpide, mousse moyennement. Saveurs de levure, biscuit et agrumes. Texture légèrement syrupeuse. Moyennement longue en bouche. Une bonne bière mais sans plus.

Bottle (750 ml) @ Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels 150514. Yeasty, fruity and spicy, a bit too sweet, medium body with a watery texture. The finish is dry, yeasty and a bit too sweet.

Bottle shared. Hazy light orange with big white head. Peach, lots of spices with some pepper, curry, ginger bread, gagel. Quite herbal towards the finish. Taste is over medium sweet with light bitter finish. Medium bodied with full soft feeling carbonation. Nice, but a bit too sweet for me.

Can. Pours a hazy orange color with white head. Hay, yeasty, dusty aromas. Dusty, tangy, citrus, malty sweet flavors. Not overly impressive, but not bad.

The beer appears as a slightly hazy golden color with a white head that lasts forever. Smells is a bit metallic and has a clear St Feuillien signature to it. Taste is the most impressive thing in this beer. It conjugates a nice dryness (but not too dry neither) with the full complexity of a saison yeast. It’s almost like you taste the yeast character better than the malt itself. And it finishes on a slightly sweet taste. I also find a citrus signature, possibly some orange peel. However, it’s possible that it’s just a part of the yeast signature. Carbonation is spot on and the mouthfeel too. I remembered this beer as being just ok and now that my palate has become more accurate, I find it just awesome. I might even push it a little bit further by saying that it’s better than Saison Dupont...

Bottle 0,33L. Dry, mild spicy notes + mild citrusy, little fruity taste. Refreshing. Decent body with lively carbonation. Unfortunately there’s not a whole lot of flavors here. Nice, but decent.
