COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2015 Bottle shared with yrcrz. Pours golden and hazy. Malty herbal and spicy aroma. Taste has tons of spice, but not overpowering. A slight fruitiness and a slightly dry finish.

(bottle) bright light amber colour with a very tall beige head; aroma starts with earthy, the cake, hint of citrus; slightly sweet flavour with a long light bitter-sweet finish

Bottle. Moderate to heavy grain and hay for the malt, moderate grass and lemon for the hops, light to moderate barnyard for the yeast, with pineapple and honey in the background. Head is average sized, fizzy, white with slippery lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky amber with a bit of particles in the lower half. Flavor starts slightly sweet and heavily acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, slick, with a fizzy carbonation. Super high carbonation in this Saison with a nice farmhouse essence.

Restrained apple orchard aroma in a golden pour. Taste is bitter fruit with a lovely dry finish. A very mild Saison and an ideal summer brew.

330ml bottle, best before June 2016. Light gold in colour. Soapy head. Musty yeast on the nose with metallic undertones. Not pleasant. As it warms there are cloying floral notes. Maybe a tad of honey. Lots of yeast on the tongue. Tastes like stone meets metal. A smidgen of spice in the mix. My least favourite Saison, and I’ve drank quite a few of them. Much like their Grand Cru, I don’t find this to be a very good representation of the style.

330ml bottle bought at BeYummi’s kiosk during "Lan Kwai Fong Beer & Music Fest 2015" in Central.

Looks: Cloudy hazy dul golden honey with a layer of dirt like yeast sediments; Two finger head and crumpety off-white foam which lasts for 3 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with very fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant and sweet rich malt, with banana, light pineapple, strong plum, orange, vanilla, caramel, carbo, sugar, spices, strong Bel yeast, very light lemon and faint grass.

Taste: Close to medium sweet taste of malt, with strong marmalade, light caramel, red fruits, sugar, light phenolic, strong Bel yeast, light spice, lime, quite strong bitter hops and light sharp grass.

Body: Medium body. Creamy and quite smooth palate.

Mouth Feel: Good maltyness in a rich creamy body. Strong and nice marmalade sweetness with some red fruits throughout. Highly carboed, quite bready and light spicy. Fairly good lime to round. Refreshing

Hoppiness: Spices, very light lemon and faint grass in nose. Challenger-like marmalade, lime and grass in taste; Bitterness is liquorices-like, notable and moderate for a lasting, bitter-sweet finish. Neat!

After Taste: Fairly dry. Creamy, easy and jammy-bitter to mouth.

Comments: From looks, smell and taste, I can’t shake the feeling of this one being second fiddle to the classic Saison Dupont. Well, it has many nice features of a good Saison, it just seems a slightly below par from the latter. Yet, its jammy aroma and taste (feels like Challenger hops to me) is a real saving grace. Glad I have this in summer in the absence of Saison Dupont!

Robe orangée. En bouche, il y a du corps. La balance entre amertume et arôme est très équilibrée. Pas transcendant, mais bière classique dès plus agréable.

Poured from a can. Very nice earthy aroma, pours a slightly hazy pale amber with a full lasting white head. Lots of yeast notes coming through with hints of spice, and an earthy hop finish. Very dry, with a light body. This is a great example of the saison style, and very drinkable.

On tap at The Refuge in Menlo Park, CA. A refreshing Saison but with very little style or point-of-view. Not much to report. Have a nice night.

Bottle from Markham LCBO A: light coriander, light banana, light pepper, other spices app: hazy pale frothy white head good lacing. T/p: med body with light acidic finish. Fizzy O: borderish belgian blond this saison offer some interesting spicy aroma. Body is a little too ample for my taste. I tend to prefer my saison drier than this. I still enjoy drinking this beer since I’m a big fan of phenolic belgian ales.
