St-Feuillien’s Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde beer, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang.Judge for yourself. 750s and 20L kegs only. In first instance, for export to the USA only.

Bottle from the LCBO. Foams a bit from the bottle when opened. Hazy orange body with a good sized white head that doesn’t hand around for long. Aroma is dry, peppery & yeasty, with nice orange blossom and candied citrus peel notes. Prickly mouthfeel. Flavour is quite good, notes of dried apricot, sweet orange, white pepper, tart and dry finish. Enjoyable.

Aroma: caramel, molasses, yeast, pale malts. Appearance: hazy, pale gold, medium, frothy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: light sweets continue, malty, grain, bread and caramel, yeast, some bitters coming up in the finish, soft carbonation. Overall: very nice Saison, light, yet quite complex in aroma and palate. On tap at the Yard House in Atlanta. Hazy amber body with a good head. The flavor is a bit sweet and low in tart for style, but this did not disappoint me. Light but not watery body with medium carbonation. Moderately complex flavor.

Saison is something you must appreciate. It is a very complex and full flavoured style. It does not look very appealing but it’s a good and decent beer for true beerlovers.

Yes this beer is gorgeous. It can’t get any better can it? Slight haze with a vivid orange/gold. Starts with a thick head, simmers down, a little retention. Well I guess the lace / retention could be better so 4/5. Nose smells decadent, rich, stone fruit, a bit of booze maybe and a bit of earth, pepper, and yeastiness. Palate starts a bit velvety and quenching, is fruity and neutral. A bit of spice. The taste and goodness lingers on the tongue. Good stuff.
