Commercial Description:
This beer has a white, smooth and very compact head. Its pale amber colour is very characteristic revealing a distinctive maltiness. It has a rich aroma with a unique combination of aromatic hops, spices and the typical bouquet of fermentation - very fruity. Secondary fermentation in the bottle gives it a unique aroma due to the presence of yeast. St Feuillien Triple has a very strong and exceptionally lingering taste thanks to its density and its long storage period.

Bottle. Slightly hazy honey body with a thick foamy lasting head. Nose-thick soap, floral, flower petals, soft, bread dough, alcohol, white spices. Taste-very similar to the nose, white spices, white grape juice, perfect floral notes, prickly lively CO2, light greasy soap, alcohol on the exhale. This absolutely exemplifies what a Triple should be. An almost perfect Triple. If I rated to style, this would be close to a 5. But, I don’t, so there ya go.

Personal rating No. 1600! Bottle. She’s quite a gusher! Hazy golden pour with a huge soapy white head. Strong yeast and citric floral notes with lots of spices in the nose, principal among them coriander, with lesser orange peel and a pairing of undefined hops and vague fruit in the bg. Strongly, boozy taste, doesn’t really get fumey/harsh until the finish. Body is medium-full but syrupy with lots of malt and alcohol. Dominant yeasty flavor with firm acidity and light sweetness. Tongue numbed and throat warmed. Gorgeous, slightly dusty spicy taste. Fruitiness is indistinctly tropical, more pineapple and less grapefruit. Complex! Has some extreme characteristics, as mentioned, but the net effect is one of balance, if there is such a thing for style. Robust and tasty, one of the better tripels out there!

Bottle, 75cl corked. It pours an almost clear, golden body with a nice, white head. Banana-fruity nose with some hops and spices, continuing into the flavor which is much the same. A little low on sweetness I think, but with a pleasant bitterness. Effervescent, medium to full mouthfeel. Quite dry. Sure, a pleasant, fruity and nicely spiced tripel. Would like to have this one again. (080314)
