This beer has a white, smooth and very compact head. Its pale amber colour is very characteristic revealing a distinctive maltiness. It has a rich aroma with a unique combination of aromatic hops, spices and the typical bouquet of fermentation - very fruity. Secondary fermentation in the bottle gives it a unique aroma due to the presence of yeast. St Feuillien Triple has a very strong and exceptionally lingering taste thanks to its density and its long storage period.

Houblonement votre Adricabra

33 cl bottle at home, poured into a tulip. Clear golden colour with a huge white head. Aroma of rich grain, wine gums and perfumed hop. Taste is sweet to start with a deepening bitterness. Rich mouthfeel of more grain, long bitter and dry finish. Lively on the tongue. Overall very good indeed.

GoufCustom (1003) - HONG KONG - JAN 1, 2015

330ml bottle bought at BeYUMMI’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during The 12th Hong Kong Food Festival.

Looks: Cloudy hazy straw golden colour with some dirt-like yeast sediments; Two finger head with lasting, crumpety white foams; Moderate sticky lacing and quite fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant and sweet malt, with strong pineapple, banana, vanilla, honey, sugar, caramel, raisins, white bread, strong Bel yeast and light lemon. Very pleasing to the nose!

Taste: Medium sweet malt, with light metallic, caramel, light toffee, raisins, light dark fruit esters, molasses, alcohol, light biscuits, Bel yeast, lime, quite strong bitter grassy hops and light grass.

Body: Full body, slick and quite thick palate.

Mouth Feel: Good maltyness but not that rich, body seems a little light despite the thickness. Very strong alcohol undertone throughout but not that boozy. Good caramel but fruity ester is not as vibrant as the aroma. Sweetness works with the booze, not so strong but omnipresent to the tongue. Strong hop dominates. Pretty good!

Hoppiness: Light lemon and some honey floral in nose. Lime and hoppy grass in taste. Bitterness is solid, true to the style, with strong liquorices impression for a lasting, quite strong astringent finish.

After Taste: Slightly dry after taste. Very hoppy and bitter sweet to mouth.

Comments: The one is on my hunting list for quite a while, and I never expected to pick it up at local food fair, so I better start the new year with this unexpected found. Turns out its excellent sweet fruity aroma covers up the rather thin and boozy body. The ester is a slight low but it’s hoppy to the core like a good Tripel should. A solid and good one but still not top on my list.
