Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA Nov 29, 2004 Sampled out of a 3.0 L bottle. Dark Yellow. Strong, musty, yeasty aroma of clove, banana, tangerine and spices (possibly cinnamon but I’m probably wrong). Very well balanced. A strong and strange orange zest in present on the palate, along with a touch of bubble gum, ripe fruits, apples and coriander. A nice interpretation and overall, an enjoyable brew. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Nov 10, 2004 Updated: Oct 3, 2007Bottle @ Belgian Beer Fest 11/04. Knew I had to try this one, as I’ve read all the good reviews and wanted to see for myself. Pours a rather pale yellow, with light golds. Small amount of haziness, with some deeper bright gold hues. Small white head. Aroma seems pretty straightforward, light citrus, almonds, light spicing and hopping. Little yeast and alcohol presence. Flavor is very unique. Ah, so this is what sets this one apart. It’s like a trippel with tons of unusual spicing. The spice erupts right away on the palate and then fades leaving you with a good yeasty, lightly malted trippel. The palate being sufficiently dried out from the spice, the yeast is quite noticeable and the light honey-almond malt only sneaks in a bit. Very unusual. Perhaps a bit too much astringency. I would like a bit more malt to back up the hops and spices. jeffc666 (1884), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Oct 23, 2004 Sparkling golden body topped by a very large frothy white head. Very lively bubbles. The aroma is mildy sweet with some dishwater and perfume. Perfumed dishwater??? The flavor is mildy sweet, somewhat malty and fairly bitter. The dishwater shows up again. Medium assertive body. Sweet and bitter finish that lasts when it might be better if it went away. Not well balanced. Mathis (48), KBH K, Denmark Oct 22, 2004 Gotta admitt, im rating this beer while im drunk! But I I sure like this beer right now! Fresh arorma with hint off hops. Flavor is mild but powerfull at the same time! This is a good beer for gettin drunk! zathrus13 (1288), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA Oct 21, 2004 Yellow/gold color, with a rather large, white head. Aromas include hops, a little fruit, and flowers. Flavor is also flowery, with some malt. Ends is a little bitter. Palate id just right. Not top of the heap, but pretty good. harvey (40), Milano, Italy Oct 20, 2004 Golden and opalescent, with a white foamy head of long persistence, compact and adherent. Very hoppy aroma with hits of wild flowers. Flavour is sweet and spicy, medium bodied with a dry hoppy finish. MilkmanDan (1940), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Oct 13, 2004 Shiny clear gold. Head big and puffy, but fades rather quickly. Nose perfumed and flowery, bit sweet. Flavor starts spicy and peppery, blends to some melon fruitiness, quite dry at the end, rather yeasty. Emil (6075), Copenhagen, Denmark Oct 10, 2004 Golden color, Heavy yeasty spicy aroma and sweet taste, medium body, Light sweet spicy finish.
