Sweet spices on the nose, slightly fruity. Spices, earth, some citrus, and pepper on the tongue. Good body and mouthfeel. Finish is long, earth, spices... Mmmmm, the 8.5% isn't even detectable. A good, soft, tasty Abbey Tripel.

I absolutely could not uncork it. It wouldn’t twist, pull, pop, anything...I took a knife to it and carved a notch around the mouth of the bottle and it FINALLY popped...I am almost done with the bottle right now and my hand is still red and hurts...all in all, this was NOT worth the wait...a decent beer though... | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 14, 2004 Pours with a thick, fluffy head, not much lacing (dirty glass?); aroma is citric and yeasty, notes of apple and pear; it has a peppery, spicey, clove flavor overlayed on a sweet malt base, finishes somewhat dry; overall, a tad too spicy, for me, good balance......not bad humulus (338), Salem, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 10, 2004 EYES: Dark peach cloudiness with nice lacing. NOSE: Yeast, light alcohol, flowers and clover honey. TONGUE: Nice bubbles, soft flavor with numbing alcohol and a buttery pear essence. The yeast are that of a country ale, you know, humble yet rich and inviting. Clean, tranquil, inviting palate. IMAGINATION: A very family farm/agrarian beer. I envision this as a nice lunch beer after having hand cut and sheaved a 10 acre field of hay. Then sitting at an antique table under a low spreading european oak with fine cheeses and a basket of fresh eggs in a straw ladden basket. Drab colors, flagstone and ivy. Never has a label so captured a beverage. Silphium (2124), Haslett, Michigan, USA

Poured cloudy light orange with a medium off-white head, emanating a complex, perfumey and spicy aroma with pepper, bread/crackers, pineapple and flower petals. Flavor presented apple peel, grassy hops, cracker and pepper, perfume, coriander and white grape. Very rich. This is quite a nice tripel.
