Bottle, 12oz. A lightly hazy one, dark golden in color, topped by a finger-thick off-white head leaving lacings. Weak aroma with some light caramel maltyness and some grassy, piney hops. The flavor has the same problem, lacking on most things good in an IPA. Nice bitterness though. Medium to full body. Quite dry. Lasting bitter finish with few other flavors. Not all bad of course, but I find it way too boring for an IPA. 130809

Type: 16-oz. pint glass Glass: Pint glass From: Diavola Pizzeria in Geyserville, Calif. Price: $6.50 Purchased: July 18, 2013 Consumed: July 18, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured a caramel orange color with two fingers of off-white head when I got it. Great lacing on the sides and great retention all the way down. Smelled red notes with some alcohol, but was hard to track down. Some caramel/toffee heavy notes. Tasted earthy and malty, like what I think a reddish IPA would taste like. Caramel, toffee, honey, rye hops, iced tea and some skunky resin hops. Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. Not a bad beer overall. Worth a try of something new.

Draft. Copper pour, small beige head, little retention/lace. Aroma of citrus, floral, pine hop, toast, caramel. Taste is moderately bitter, malty, grapefruit, pine, toast, caramel. Palate is average carbonation, oily, bitter finish. A bit too malty for me.

"Hey, I have an idea. Letís start a brewery and make an IPA in an over saturated IPA market." Well, if you do that it better be damned good... and it is! I am not a hop head and this beer has a great balance of hops and malt. Copper in color, has very nice carbonation and good head retention. You get the full experience from top to bottom.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours orange copper with a modest beige head and a citrus and toffee aroma. There is a medium-bodied caramel malt flavor with a serious hop profile and a bitter finish. Pretty tasty.

Pours a deep amber color. Quite clear. Nice big off-white head. A thick blanket of tiny bubbles. Good lacing. The aroma is mostly grapefruit and orange with some pine resin and a touch of tropical flavor. A little bit of paint thinner in the background. Thereís a relatively dark crystal malt flavor to the beer, not what I prefer to see in an IPA. It doesnít have too much malt sweetness in the aroma, but whatís there takes this beer nearly to amber ale territory. Itís mildly toasty, almost nutty. Taste is a bit blandly bitter. Thereís some citrus hop flavor to it, but itís mostly just darker caramel malt and bland, pine resin/grapefruit pith bitterness. It could stand to be dried out a touch, but thatís more personal preference; itís only mildly sweet, really. The finish is particularly bland. The bitterness isnít too strong. They just need to amp up the hop flavor along with it. Feel is fine. Standard carbonation. A little hop slickness. Round. Itís an ok IPA. I prefer more SD-style dry/pale/big aroma IPAs, but there arenít any particular faults. I always want to see new (semi) local breweries succeed, but itís just hard to think of a reason to recommend this beer with so many wonderful IPAs already on the market.

T - Sweet caramel and bready malts, grapefruit, orange, citrus, pine, and floral hops, some bitterness. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a sweet, dry, and bitter finish. D - A bit on the maltier side, but a nicely balanced IPA.
