Skinnyviking (6772) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 14, 2009
Bottle. Low but lasting white fluffy head. Clear golden and good looking body. Barley malt aroma with hay and grass notes. Actually more powerful than expected. Furthermore it has a light peppery note. Flavor though is, unfortunately, of a weak and watery barley malt with little hops bitterness although the beer is not exactly sweet. Low carbonation, short afrtertaste.

Embrouille (2819) - SWITZERLAND - SEP 23, 2009
Bottled 33cl. Aroma: Apple, vegetables, potato, marzipan, white sugar and crackers. Sweet and malt accentuated. Appearance: It pours a pale golden beer with a quick diminishing fizzy white head. Some floating impurities. No lacework. Flavor and palate: Flat. Low bitterness. Apple and crackers showing up. Light bodied, grainy and inoffensive. Just a slight metallic finish. Overall impression: A decent pale lager. Better than expected.

Appearance: Pours a mostly clear, yellow body with a thin, white head. Oh, and very fine, tiny particles suspended in the beer. Smell: Simple nose of light pale malts and corn. Wait, what’s that? Could it be? It couldn’t. No, wait, it is! It’s Saint George leading a charge of flavor and beer-based enjoyment. Hooray! Taste: Light pale malts and a sturdy handful of corn stirred up with a light sweetness. Faint floral hop character with an equally faint bitterness. Finishes dry with a final taste of cereal grains. Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-low carbonation. Drinkability: A bit under par, but, ultimately, it’s pretty bearable considering it’s a refugee from an impoverished nation.
