3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Shanebrews (62) - - DEC 22, 2012From a 2L growler. The color of the beer is a light amber, with an acceptable level of carbonation. The aroma is bright and floral. The body is light for the style producing a balanced taste. The ABV is well hidden. The finish lingers with a sweet, tangy citrus note.

651mL thanks to Travlr. Not every day you get to try an 11/100 point DIPA. Pours a low haze lighter orange. Weak head for style. Nose is dusty, caramel, stickier lemon tea. Taste is sticky caramel, dense sugary body, moving to a profile that is uncannily similar to flan dessert- custard, caramel syrup. Palate is dense, stickier, eating scoops of flan. Not bad, but on the sweet and much too bitter side for DIPA.

Tap. Pours clear light amber with a large off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is floral, pine, caramel. Flavor is about the same, lightly sweet, lightly bitter with bitterness increasing to the finish. Medium body, creamy in the mouth. Not a bad beer at all, and masks its ABV well.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Advocate_Ames (225) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 19, 2012
The aroma is of sweet malts, alcohol, hops, and citrus. The flavor is of caramel malts, citrus fruit notes, honey, and a slight hop taste. The malts are the prime flavor in this drink. The finish is bitter but does not ruin the palate. Its a good beer and an above average brew.

Draft at the source. This is a nice subtle, balanced ale with floral and fruity notes. Refreshing.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Butters (3318) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - OCT 1, 2012
Bomber pours a near clear copper with almost no head. Sweet honey on the nose is pleasant, but not particularly hoppy or complex. Flavor has a little more going on. A little floral honeysuckle and mild american hop bitterness. Definitely tends toward the sweet. abv is evident as it warms and creates a pleasant warming sensation going down. not amazing, but average.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BelgianBeerGal (2604) - Dayton Area, Ohio, USA - AUG 7, 2012
Bottle from the brewery. Um, this is a DIPA? It’s not a bad beer just a far cry from what I expect from a DIPA. The malt completely dominates the hops except for a hint of bitterness in the finish. The 10 ABV is well hidden. I’m seriously at a loss of how to rate this. It’s pretty tasty but it’s a far cry from a DIPA. I’m rating it as a "beer" and not necessarily a DIPA or even IPA for that matter.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Norm’s, 6/15/12
Aroma: The nose has some malts, bread/toast, caramel, toffee, orange fruity notes, and spice
Appearance: It pours an unclear dark orange color with a small off-white head and minimal lace
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet, with a lot of malts, breads, and spice, and not a lot of hoppy goodness
Palate: It is medium-full bodied, with a thick feel, a sticky/syrupy texture, and a slightly hot/alcoholic finish
Overall Impression:
I certainly wouldn’t have classified this beer as a Double IPA. It is missing all that resiny/pine/citrus sweet-hoppy goodness that makes this style so wonderful. Anyway, this wasn’t a bad beer by any means, but it just wasn’t rounded out at all either. I don’t know. I changed my mind on this one multiple times as I was drinking it. I’m not going to hold the style category against it, since I certainly don’t know that is the style they were attempting for, and my assumption is that they were not. It felt much more like a British style Barleywine (well not exactly, but something of that nature).

Called imperial IPA at green Leaf. can’t say too much for this beer. Bigger for sure but mostly candy sweet, and certainly not a double IPA
