COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. George Oktoberfest is a classic German style with roasted malt and caramel flavors balanced by a mild hop bitterness. This beer was traditionally served at the start of fall in celebration of the harvests. Our Oktoberfest is pale copper-color lager. It pairs well with warm pretzels and lederhosen.

12oz bottle fresh from the brewery. Pours a pretty classic, clear copper color with a small white head and nice lacing. Aroma is chalk dust, corn tortillas and a little sweet malt. Medium bodied. Flavor is really light and kinda boring.

Reviewed from notes. I had this during a work trip in the Virginia area last Autumn. The appearance was a nice light gentle amber color with a decent transparency about it letting in enough light to see some carbonation rising at a decent pace. The head was about a finger’s worth and gently died to a slight little hill in the center of the beer. Some light lacing stuck around the sides of the glass. The smell had a good amount of caramel malts along with some pilsner malts invading my nose. The taste was basically sweet around the caramel and pilsner malts. On the palate, it sat fairly light and displayed a decent sessionable quality running about it. The carbonation was somewhat smooth and watery. Overall, for the most part, this was a pretty good brew that I ended up having several of and had it with some pretzels. It made for a nice memorable Autumn afternoon watching football.

Draught @ Busch Gardens: This one pours a clear amber color. There was almost no head or lacing on mine. The aroma is lighter but nice. Mainly caramel malt and earthy hops. the taste is OK. Caramel, earthy, slight sweetness. Smooth. Not bad, but still a bit mediocre.

(Sample Date: 9/19/2009 Source:Other) Courtesy of the brewers. Rich malty aroma with hint of spicy hops. Clear medium orange amber with small white head. Lightly malty with some spicy hop notes. Dry clean finish with light residual bitterness.

On tap @ 11th Street Taphouse, Virginia Beach Va-Copper pour w/a slight tan head. Malty aroma. Flavors of malt, toffee, caramel, nuts, pretty standard Oktoberfest, Very true to style, smooth & easy to drink. Had it on a cool, rainy late summer night @ the beach & it hit the spot, wound up the season well & made me look forward to the Fall.

Nice try at an Oktoberfest legendary seasonal but this one falls short of the standard flavor I would expect.

Pours a orange’ish gold with medium head. Not as malty on the nose as expected, a bit of hop on the nose. Not as malty on the palate either, a bit of hop bitterness, but not very clean finish.

This Oktoberfest brew is a middle of the road offering. The pour is somewhat light colored. The aroma is weak but slightly hoppy. The taste is balanced and pleasant but not really remarkable. A good, not great, Oktoberfest.
