3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 merlin48 (656) - New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA - JUL 10, 2010
Bottle from a Dragon sampler box I found at an obscure beer store in the extreme tip of southwestern Virginia, near Cumberland Gap. Pours a slightly hazed light golden body with a tall white head. Good retention and lots of sticky lace. Aroma of lemon, white pepper, and some floral hops. Taste is well balanced. A lemony twang is edged by floral/spicy hops. Crackery and biscuity malt presence is not overly sweet. Finishes clean with a lemon pepper aftertaste. One of the better American pilsners I’ve sampled. A pleasant surprise.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Aurelius (3077) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - APR 1, 2010
Malty aroma without much hops. Clear, bright gold with a bad label. Malty, a little peppery, generally crisp. Medium body. Long mild hops-and-cereal finish. Drinkable but bland. Unobjectionable.

This poured a golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma was grassy hops, some corn sugar sweetness. Flavor was lightly hopped grassy and bitter, and not much else, pretty bland stuff.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 kramer (3376) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 25, 2009
12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orangish gold body with a one finger frothy white head. Some light sticky lacing. The nose is grassy hops with some crusty and bready malt. A little bit of a cooked vegetable or creamed corn note though that really bothers me. More cooked veggies on the flavor, it covers up most of the malt actually. Minimal light hops. This just isn’t very clean. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a bit of a clingy doughy malt on the finish. Light fizzy carbonation. Overall, not really what you’re looking for in a Pilsener here. Poor effort.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - SEP 13, 2009
Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Pours a hazy light orange with a large, pillowy, off-white head. Very good head retention.
Aroma: It has a light, dusty nose. Very light lemon notes, a little graininess, and a touch of yeast. This reminds me more of a Wit.
Taste: Light lemon and pith notes, a slight metallic touch, a bit of paper, some cracker, and a touch of butter too? Light honey and floral notes emerge as the beer warms. Either this one has really oxidized or this isn’t a pilsner.
Palate: Medium-high carbonation with a medium-light mouthfeel. Medium, slightly bitter finish.
Overall: This one left me scratching my head. Not sure why my bottle was cloudy and had all of the oxidized characteristics. It still wasn’t terrible, just not what I was expecting at all. I will have to re-rate this one in the future.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Radek Kliber (5171) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - FEB 25, 2009
Bottle 355ml
Appearance: clear lager with deep gold hue. Sparkly ,carbonated. Medium white top. Nose: Soft meadow, grassy hop feel. Flowery with some mineral hints. Flavor/Palate : Medium bodied. Fairly soft in body. Decent malt character. Bitter edges and top. Fairly good rendering of Pils. Solid but not excellent.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 adavis234 (278) - Columbia, South Carolina, USA - JAN 30, 2009
12oz. bottle. Pours a deep golden color with a thick one finger light head. Strong aroma of malt and hops with citrus notes. Malty, yeasty taste with a some spice. A little bitter. Although initially a mouthful of flavor, many of the notes quickly disappear, leaving the drinking with a weak, malty finish. Not a bad pilsner at all, but nothing to seek out.
