COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. George Porter weaves a complex tapestry of flavors in a black, ruby colored ale. A rich malt base, typical of St. George Ales, results in caramel and chocolate tones, classically balanced with English bittering and aromatic hops.

Pours close to black with a chocolatey brown hue around the edges. Rich aroma of oatmeal raisin cookies. Cinnamon, prunes, and vanilla with winks of spiciness and plenty of heart. Taste reveals a lot of lactose and metallic bite to complement the lovelier tones of chocolate and and maple toast sweetness. Vinous qualities layer softly underneath, dark and pleasant; bitter sarsaparilla powers through with dominance. Heavily roasted, with the thin texture of graham cracker and cola in the mouth. Altogether, pretty much as solid as can be expected from an unassuming porter; satiating, and bold, though certainly still quite quiet.

Poured a dark brown with fluffy head and good lacing. Aroma was roasted malts. Flavor was roasted chocolate and coffee. Bitter hops in the finish. Good beer. "

Pours a dark dark brown, with a minimal head that quickly disappears back into this dark, oily beer. Aroma of chocolate, hazelnut, and coffee. Tastes like, for lack of a better term, a porter. Bitter and espresso-y, with a huge chocolate aftertaste. Creamy and oily on the mouth, with hints of tiny bubbles as it rolls in the mouth. Overall a decent porter, I wouldn’t mind hunting down a few more bottles.

Good smell. Chocolate roast flavor. Just a little tart for my Porter liking. This one tasted better as it went from a slight chill to room temp.

bottle from...you guessed it...ucusty. pours very dark brown with a thin tan head that disappears quickly back into the glass. aromas of wood, mild coffee and dark roasted malts. flavor is also woody with a little bit of coffee and a strange mild herbal bitterness that reminds me of earwax. (not burnt, not hops but something????)thin bodied with high carbonation. no palate development and it doesn’t improve when warm...

Poured very dark with not too much head and fades fast. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and some coffee. Taste a little bitter back but may be the espresso taste not the hops. Nice body and smooth, easy to drink.

Rich chocolate flavor, some bitterness.. not to bad though. Overall decent, would most likely buy this one again.
