theacelatrain (262), Washington DC, USA Jun 13, 2006 Bottle. Pours near black with oak tint around the edges, quickly dissipating off-white head. Sweet nose of soft, milky chocolate malts. Sweet, simple chocolate malts – like Whoppers candy; mildly watery. Pleasant, dry, chocoff finish. Well-rounded but watery/weak.
timsilvia32 (206), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Aug 2, 2008 Dark brown pour, very little head. Roasted malts, coffee slight chocolate. Slightly metallic. Lighter bodied than I would like, not the best finish. You could do a lot worse though. Soonah (491), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Jun 30, 2008 From dkachur via trade. Thanks! The pour was clear, dark brown with ruby highlights. A short, off-white head formed and quickly collapsed, leaving little lacing. The aroma was roasted malt, sugars, chocolate and an earthy limestone or slate aroma. The flavor had thin chocolate, roasted malts and more of that earthy limestone dryness. The mouthfeel was thin to medium. Easy drinking. dkachur (778), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bottle from a dragon pack from Whole Foods Charlottesville. Chocolate brown pour with a medium head. Chocolatey roasted malt aroma. Taste is roasted malt, mocha with a bitterness at the end. Very nice porter. nick76 (2038), Tampa, Florida, USA May 31, 2008 The aroma is chocolaty with burnt malt, coffee, and brown sugar. The appearance is dark brown with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter quality. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s a decent porter with an unappealing astringent aftertaste. Butters (311), Richmond, Virginia, USA May 29, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with bright ruby highlights and a fair light-brown head. Strong aroma of chocolate. Tastes of cocoa, light roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel but velvety smooth.
