COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. George Porter weaves a complex tapestry of flavors in a black, ruby colored ale. A rich malt base, typical of St. George Ales, results in caramel and chocolate tones, classically balanced with English bittering and aromatic hops.

12 oz. Opaque with a lasting quarter-inch of creamy foam. Smells of earthy chocolate, caramel, light apple and sour cream. Flavor is a great blend of all, plus some ash and char on the finish to dry the big malt. Medium-heavy body is smoothly carbonated, lightly prickly on the tongue and drinkably chewy. Nice soapy lacing. Great American homage to the traditional British style.

Tap. Black color, tan head, lots of lacing. Very faint aroma, hints of milk chocolate? Hard to say. Flavor is much more pronounced. Reminiscent of a milk stout but dominated by roasty bitterness on the end.

Caramel, mild cocoa, and nutty aromas. Clear brown with a fading, beige head. Off-dry with some sweet malty flavors. Light-medium bodied with low carbonation, smooth, and finishes with some lingering nutty and chocolatey flavors.

I asked for a Founders Porter but had to settle for the St. George. I’m glad I gave it a go.

Pours black with a lightly tan fine head. Roasty, chocolate flavor. Mouthfeel is moderate. Chocolate and coffee flavors are there. Pretty good Porter.

12 oz bottle courtesy of RABinVA. Pours a standard dark brown with an inch of creamy tan head. Good head retention with some lazy rings of lace. Roasty, chocalate aroma with a nice sweetness. Sweet flavor with touches of cream and vanilla. Light sweetness in the mouth with a medium body. Very enjoyable.

Pours clear dark brown with a tall. sticky, light tan head. Very soft malt aroma. Lightly sweet with some roast malts, but a lot less than what a good porter should have in my opinion. More like a Schwarzbier.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a slight tan head that fades fast. Big toasty malt aroma with a hit of sweetness. Taste is a bit of chocolate, caramel, and coffee with toasted malt back that lingers on the tongue.

Pours from the 12 oz. bottle a very dark, cola-ish reddish brown with a large rocky beige head. Too dark to tell what kind of bubble action is occurring in the darkness. Aroma is of roasted, smoky malt. 1st sip brings to mind dark unsweetened chocolate and black coffee. Mouthfeel is on the light side. Overall, a tasty, refreshing Porter that I would not mind having again.

On draft in "Germany" within Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. Very dark brown/black in complexion with slightly watery body. Not bad, but I was expecting a more flavorful porter.
