COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
St. George Winter Stout is our tribute to the Russian Tsars of old. This Russian Imperial Stout is a huge beer. Everything from the body to the malt flavor and hop bitterness to its alcohol strength demands respect. Impenetratably black with a dense dark crown, this is a beer that will make even the longest of winters tolerable.

22nd May 2010. ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! Opaque black stout. Almost no head. Light soft palate. Dark unsweet chocolate with a whisper of paint that detracts from the otherwise good flavour. Finishes light and malty and warming.

22oz bottle-pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is initial grape/vinuous, followed by chickory/wood. Then raosty dark malt-chocolate/peat. Taste is roasty dark malt-chocolate/peat/chickory/wood, earthy/spice hop bite. Lots of carbonation. Medium body. Not really in the style of a RIS.
