2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 EithCubes (4201) - New Jersey, USA - NOV 30, 2011
Bottle by 12.10.12. Nose is sweet caramel and roast, rich malt, more on the molasses than plum/grape side. Dark chestnut pour with ruby highlights and a sudsy light brown head (sort of ugly, truth be told). Taste is sickly sweet and sticky, lots of berry and fruit, raisins and brown sugar. Just super sweet, though. Good malt depth, medium body, just can’t really seem to enjoy it! Maybe for cooking?

Bottle at Amundsen, Oslo.
Lovely glowing ruby, beige head. Slow flowing, lazy bubbles. Not skimpy on the malt. Aroam of malt and raisins. Sweet, burned sugar, bitter background. A hint of yeast.
Rich flavor, would be perfect with pork ribs or a ripe cheese.

Pours dark ruby red with a creamy, fine brown head. Smells like dark malts, very roasty and coffee-like, slightly aroma of licorice comes through. Starts very roasted malty, slightly sweet, intense coffee flavor. The middle part has some earthy-smoky flavors. Roasted coffee in the finish, subtly smoky / peaty, again, dominated by licorice flavor! Absolutely magnificent Doppelbock!!!

Fantastically rich and interesting beer. Very stong malty almost Marmite flavours. Balanced sweet and bitter taste.
Cannot taste the relatively high alcohol. Really worth trying to find a bottle.

50cl bottle. Pours chestnut brown with a red hue. There is a decent head which reduces to a thin layer of lace. The nose has toffee and some malt. The taste is of chocolate, then apples, then chocolate again. The palate is medium to large in structure and texture then it finishes clean but with some alcohol burn. Overall, a really interesting beer.
