Fantastically rich and interesting beer. Very stong malty almost Marmite flavours. Balanced sweet and bitter taste. Cannot taste the relatively high alcohol. Really worth trying to find a bottle.

Bottle, 7.3% Quite malty, brown sugar aroma. Clear, very dark brown colour. Small creamy light brown head. The flavour is quite powerful, quite sweet, creamy with lots of malt. Finishes with a little sour alcohol, which is good here, reminding me of liquorice. Late hint of barley bitterness.

Bottled. Deep chestnut red brown, almost black with good initial dirty white head that soon subsides and moderate fine condition. Initial aroma of syrupy malt soon replaced by roast barley and fruity raisin notes and a hoppiness that borders on zesty. full bodied and malty in the mouth with lots of roast barley and burnt fruitcake notes, some fruity tartness and even a hint of porty woodiness. Long fruity finish laced with roast barley and sweet malt. Almost a barley wine in some respects, but the alcohol is very well hidden. An excellent dunkle bock, worth seeking out. Picked up from Fabeers in York.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Deep brown colour, creamy beige head. Intensive malt flavours, roasted malts, cocoa powder, dates, walnut, chocolate... Slightly hoppy in the finish with a herbal character. Perfectly balanced beer full of flavour and character. A true delight!

0,5l bottle from Sörspecialista, Budapest. Clear, reddish brown color with quickly diminishing, light brown head. Grainy, a bit fruity and floral aroma, but at the same time it’s hoppy and bitter. Light bitter taste, the malty sweetness appears behind the hoppy bitterness. In the aftertaste it reminds me to wine a little. Medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation. This is an excellent beer, more complex than usual doppelbocks. Not that sweet and has more complex aroma thank to the hops. It makes it well balanced.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 7.3%. Colour somewhere between mahogany and black, large and lasting beige head. Moderate but nice aroma of roasted malts and bakery, hints of oak and leather. Very malty and well rounded flavour, medium sweet, notes of mild coffee and black bread. Moderate but sufficient hops, fairly smooth and easy to drink for a 7.3% beer. Nice one!
