We brew the strongly hopped Keller Bier traditionally according to an age-old recipe and then let it mature unbunged in deep vaults. Naturally cloudy; with bottom-fermenting yeast rich in vitamins, this very drinkable beer is frequently enjoyed out of a stein.

[Cask at Wetherspoons] Deep amber colour with moderate but dissipating head. Aroma is caramel and grain followed by floral and slightly fruity hoppy notes. There is also a slightly buttery note which isn’t entirely pleasant. Fairly full-bodied and malty on the palate with more caramel and a dry finish. I would have preferred this beer if it had been more hoppy and slightly cleaner (without the buttery note); all the same, not a bad beer and in excellent condition for a Wetherspoons.

Hazy orange color. Nice lasting head. Deep and malty aromas of baked bread and roasted nuts. Surprising bitter based on the smell. Has a bread flavor with a lasting herbal hoppiness. Quite dry, but bright. Ok.

Bottle at home. Has a slightly hazy dark amber colour with a light beige head. Aroma of wet hay, sweet corn, grass and some apricot. Similar flavour that is quite light with some grass and hops. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and balanced bitterness. A light kellerbier with a solid amount of grass. Okay.

(St. Georgen Bräu Keller Bier) Swing top bottle, 500 ml at In De Wildeman, Amterdam. Light amber colour on the body, clear, with a tall and thick head on top, with great retention, leaving heavy lacing on the glass. Aroma of dried grass, vegetables, faint caramel and a light sour touch. Taste follows the aroma, dried grass, grains, faint caramel, more obvious on the finsish, old hops, vegetables, light straw, a sour touch too. Bitterness that builds up. Medium thin body, good carbonation. Okay beer, after a while seems like a chore to finish the whole bottle.
