On the basis of ancestral recipes, this relatively light blonde, remains faithful to the principles of the monks who populated the old abbey of Belgian. It refreshes intelligently, and will charm the thirst in hot weather.

Bottle. Golden, hazy, small and fully head. Moderate malty – wheaty and sweetish aroma, citrus fruitiness and caramel, some yeast and faint hoppyness. Body is medium, malty – wheaty and sweetish flavor, caramel, citrus fruitiness, some yeast. Finish is average, malty – wheaty and sweetish, fruitiness and some alcohol. Fruity and caramel sweet blond – quite a lot of wheat in aroma/flavor.

Slightly hazy golden beer with a rocky white head. Archetypal aromas of a belgian blonde, i.e. spicy, floral and slightly perfumed with notes of pepper, banana, orange peel and citrus. It’s heavy sweet in the mouth, slightly acidic and medium bitter - and the notes of orange peel are (nearly too) very present. Medium body, lively carbonation and an astringent slightly bitter finish. Easy drinkable.

Clear golden color, large, pretty vast white head. Smell malts, sweet and a little musty. Taste pretty nice, not too sweet, light sour hint and good carbonation that suits the beer. Medium to full body. Like it pretty much actually.

330ml on tap, downstairs at Delirium Café, shared with Finn. Disappearing white head atop of a clear, amber body. Smell of citric fruits with spices behind. The taste is a mix of noble hops, grain, almond oil and spices. Smooth in the mouth. Pretty decent brew (Brussel, 07.05.2011).

330ml bottle (S. Brevinga Alus Salons, Riga)
6+ Sweet but very hoppy aroma. I think it’s dense and heavy with aromas, Anna thinks it’s packed full of uplifting aromas. We’ll never agree!
3+ Bold orange, small tight white head. As we add the yeast later, it looks just like honey.
7 Much lighter taste than the aroma. Full hoppy kick. Yeast softens the hops, and makes it more bready, but also a little dirty. Prefer the clear kick.
4 Super soft palate. Finish hoppy and spicy, at least before the yeast.
13 A very solid belgian, an easy drinker that doesn’t show the alcohol at all, though does have an air of not being a chugger due to the sweetness.

Countbeer (6180) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - APR 30, 2011
Bottle: Medium white frotty head on top of a very light hazy dark yellow orange colored beer. Smell malts, fruit, orange, abricot, sweets and hint of hops. Taste is sweet with hints of fruit, sweets, malts, hint of caramel, hops, herbs. Light grassy light sweet less bitter aftertaste. Creamy tingly mouthfeel, medium carbo, medium body watery to light creamy texture.

Churchkey, DC tap ($7.50): Pours a golden body with a white head. Aroma is a little weak for a Belgian. Aroma has some spice (coriander) and some fruit, but not an overwhelming amount of it like some Belgian ales do. Taste was not that complex. Probably hoppier than your average Belgian ale and the presence of the spice probably accentuated the hoppiness. I did however notice that in reading the reviews, that people have very different opinions on what is going on in the taste of this beer. Basically, I will agree with many people and say that it is an easy drinking albeit somewhat boring version of the style.

33 cl bottle. Yellow body with a quickly disappearing fizzy, white head. The beer has a malty and slightly spicy aroma. The taste is much alike the aroma, malty, spicy with a little citrus hint. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
