Deep amber color, toasty toffee/caramel nose, with layers of soft malt and hops. A big beer without being heavy. Extremely well balanced. Brewed under license of the Duinen Monestary by the family owned Huyghe-Melle Brewery.

9/20/2010 1:22:07 PM Bottle from Beer Planet. A nice dubbel from Huyghe, although I realise I like the style less and less. Amber body with tall head. Nose of caramel, malts, sugar. Quite sweet and poignant. Nice texture.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is slightly sour fruit and yeast, with rich roasted malt. Taste: slightly sweet, tart and dry. Rich malt, stewed fruits and a lactic, almost balsamic finish. Ending tart and dry. I’m not sure that the lactic, tart flavours in this are intentional, reading the other reviews. I hope they are; it makes this better than a run-of-the-mill dubbel. Will try this again sometime. For now, I quite like this.

Aroma of mature fruit, caramel, floral esters, with some chocolate toasted hints. The attenuation is high, as its style requires, so that the finish is quite bitter and pleasantly dry. A small quantity of roasted malts gives some astringency. Rocky foam, proper high carbonation. A fine dubbel.

Color marron oscuro, espuma poco persistente, carbonatacion baja. Aroma a caramelo y dulce de leche, tambien a azucar quemado y algo licoroso. En boca es dulce, y alcoholica pero bien equilibrada acabando con amargor notable

Dark brown with week tan head, syrup aroma, sugars, chocolate biscuit, something dry, strange, taste is not good. Thick beer. Not bad, but there is something wrong.

Bottle 33cl. Dark brown with an off white head that is not too sturdy. Fades quickly. The aroma is sweet at first, but the taste is surprisingly sour. It makes me think of kriek. A bit mediocre.
