3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deepest ruby, almost black; off white bubbly uneven head; smells tannic and vinous, a little yeasty, enticing; well carbonated; a little spice next to sugary malt and plummy fruit; on the thin side; too sweet; average Belgian

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled, gift from my mother (fascinating to see she knows exactly which beers i haven’t had before). Dark brown colored, lasting brown head. Malty nose, toffee, molasses, iron. Initially sweet flavor, some iron again, then finally some roasted malts shining through (a bit like Westmalle dubbel), perhaps far in the distance even some Flemish sour features. Somewhat bitter finish. A bit heavy for a dubbel. A nice, but non-spectacular Belgian dubbel.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gelungen!
Anmerkung: Mein Bier hat 8% Alkohol.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
33cl bottle. Dark brown colour with afrothy and creamy tan head, nice lacework and perfect lasting. Aroma is brown sugar, tart, caramel and belgian yeast. Flavour is sweet, with hints of caramel, candy sugar and yeast. The final has a light bitterness that maked a good balanced beer. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is moderate oily.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Huge gusher, directly after slightly opening the bottle. Got everything in the glass with all of the sediment as well. Cloudy brownish colour without any head. Sweet aroma, full of molasses and cookie spices. Some caramel detected. Flavour is sweet and it lacks complexity. Flat body, must be because of the gusher that all the carbo went flying. Ok beer, would like to try another bottle, see if it doesn’t do the gusher.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
33cl Posh bottle, best before Apr 2011, poured into a Westmalle chalice in Aug 2010. Yet again a beer from this brewery flew out the bottle taking all the sediment into the glass, I hate that!
This had been stored for over a year upright and in the dark, moved carefully the day before opening for chilling, it still outloaded all the sediment into the glass, it took ages to settle down.
Once settled the beer looked fine, a dark brown, deep ruby red colour, the tanned head was full and deep.
The smell was of old coffee and dark chocolate.
The taste was a strange semi-sour coffee flavour, yet with a sweeter aftertaste, as the chocolate hints took over.
Not the creamiest or richest dubbel, but an OK beer, pity about the exploding sediment eruption into my glass.
