Dark brown with 3" of light tan head. Aroma is caramel apples, with very faint cinnamon/spice. Taste is the same, and red apple is prominent, and absent most of the dark fruit in American examples. Slight grape and cola into the finish. 2.5Eu/33cl

Decent caramel and toffee flavours, but a very metallic smell. Might carry some of the metal in its flavour too.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours medium brown with a decent brown head and good lacing. Nose is strong and is dominated by brown sugar, caramel, and some roastiness. Flavor is a little less in-your-face, with the usual fruit and molasses character of dubbels ruling the taste, with a little herbal quality and light hops in the background. Alcohol is there but doesn’t play into flavor much. A decent dubbel, even if a little underwhelming.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Dark brown, quickly dissipating head. Complex aroma dominated by dark chocolate and coffee with some less nuts, forest fruit, very light banana and herbal hops, light earthiness and some alcohol. Carbonation high and fizzy. Taste not as intensive as the smell. Dark fruit, earthiness and alcohol lead towards a complex, slightly astringent finish of dark chocolate, nuts and coffee with a light to moderate bitterness. Very refreshing in spite of the complexity and ABV, just as it says - "a big beer without being heavy."
