Rich golden colour, fruity aroma and a soft, sweet maltiness. Lively mouthfeel with a finish reminiscent of brut champagne. Brewed under license of the Duinen Monastery by the family owned Huyghe-Melle Brewery.

0,33L bottle (from Wine of Galilee), BB 07.17. Pours Clear golden with off-white head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, fresh fruits, yeast. Flavor is very sweet, fruits, yeast, malt, very mild bitterness. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: ok brew. No notable hops, so I would say it’s actually more Belgian strong ale than tripel for me.

Bottle from a trade with Douberd. Pours clear golden with a big creamy white head. Aroma is light fruity, with moderate sweet malts and sugars. Lively spritzy mouthfeel. Taste is light sweet, sugars, marzipan with a decent dry grassy finish, weak burn from the alcohol. Not my favourite style, but this one was enjoyable.

330ml bottle. Pale golden color. Small size, white head, stays. Fruity, bit of dead yeast, white pepper, slightly sour notes in aroma. Caramel, yeast, dried apricot, slight notes of pineapple and alcohol in taste. High carbonation. Sweet alcohol in aftertaste. Dry mouthfeel. Drinkability: pathetic.

Authentic abbey tripel, taken over from Damy in 1994. A well-balanced but very stereotypical, golden blond tripel with estery fruitiness, sweet and soft maltiness, yeasty, with warming alcohol and some herbal hop bitterness in the finish. One of the somewhat better Huyghe beers, in my opinion.

(St. Idesbald Triple) Bottle 330 ml at home, poured into a tulip glass, ABV 9% Bright golden yellow colour on the body, crystal clear, with a tall and thick white head on top. Very good retention, medium lacing on the glass. Aroma is a bit faint, with fruity notes, grass, malt, a bit of sugar. Taste is of malts, sugars, peaches, apricots, notable alcohol, some grass. Medium body, nicely carbonated. Pleasantly drinkable beer.

Color dorato pallido, aroma leggero ma molto dolce, in bocca è decisamente gasata e l’impatto davvero troppo dolce.

330 ml bottle. Pale golden yellow, quite clear, with a big, frothy, fizzy bright white head. Very interesting smell. Definitely more hoppy than a tradition tripel, at least to my nose, slightly funky, lots of fruit esters and yeast influence. Slightly spicy with some burnt caramel/toffee in the background. Sigh, as expected it’s way too over carbonated to be enjoyed properly. It’s like drinking air, really. The alchool is relatively well hidden, slightly overly sweet, but the drinkability is close to zero for me. Fruity and spicy aftertaste. Fizzy carbonation, light body, slightly creamy texture. Not something I’d buy again I’m afraid.
