Commercial Description:
The inspiration for Virgin Islands Pale Ale came when the beer's creators, Kevin Chipman and Chirag 'Cheech' Vyas, began home brewing on the island of St. John. Unsatisfied with the choices of mass produced, bland, watered down beer, the two set out to brew ales that had smoother flavors and a distinct hop finish. After brewing several batches of quality American and European style beers they developed a recipe that captured the essence and taste of the Caribbean. The finished brew, a light ale with a subtle exotic fruit nose and mild hop finish, is the ideal flavor for our tropical climate. Virgin Islands Pale Ale was born. Having created a perfect island ale recipe, the two would like to share their new brew with the Virgin Islands and its visitors. Whether you are enjoying a sunset, celebrating an island happy hour, or having a relaxing dinner, Virgin Islands Pale Ale is the refreshing beer to enjoy any moment.

Found this one on my vacation on St. John. Never had it before and it was not even on ratebeer. Color is yellow, a bit darker then a lager, nice white head. Looked promissing. Aroma is at first appricot, then I noticed more fruity aroma’s in there as it warmed up a little..but somehow jelly beans came up...and yes it smells like jelly beans..Flavor.... jelly beans with a hint of hops in the background...Exotic..yes, a good beer, no not for me...but on a tropical island, not bad. I will bring a few beers home and share with some "lucky" ratebeer friends...;-)

Got the one from bhensonb. Poured a clear yellow with a small white foamy head and light lacing. Nose of sweet malts and tropical fruit. Fizzy mouthfeel. Fruity mango flavor and soda pop like finish. Drinkable but not very refreshing.

12oz bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). Pours a generally clear dark yellow to golden with a one finger bright white foamy head that settles quickly but still provides some lacing. Aroma is sweet, malt, mango, and ripe fresh fruit. Flavor is much of the same: fresh fruity and mango flavors overpower the sweet malt and bready notes. Light body with a crisp sweet finish.

Duped! This was with all the tropical beers, I wanted a tasteless whatever beer from the tropics, not a poorly made fruit beer from Shipyard. Yellowish orange color, dominating apricot and mango aroma. Lighter bodied, drinkable but one dimensional.

Bottle indicates Tropical Mango. The concept and idea of of Virgin Islands beer with tropical fruit such as mango was interesting. The final result is just disappointing. While the aroma is filled with mango, the taste is badly balanced. The beer should have the sweetness of the mango, and unfortunately it is counterblanced by too much hops bitterness, giving the beer a citrus fruit soda aspect.

The mango flavor itself is pretty decent but everything else just falls flat, taste too astringent and mildly soapy.
