The inspiration for Virgin Islands Pale Ale came when the beer’s creators, Kevin Chipman and Chirag ’Cheech’ Vyas, began home brewing on the island of St. John. Unsatisfied with the choices of mass produced, bland, watered down beer, the two set out to brew ales that had smoother flavors and a distinct hop finish. After brewing several batches of quality American and European style beers they developed a recipe that captured the essence and taste of the Caribbean. The finished brew, a light ale with a subtle exotic fruit nose and mild hop finish, is the ideal flavor for our tropical climate. Virgin Islands Pale Ale was born. Having created a perfect island ale recipe, the two would like to share their new brew with the Virgin Islands and its visitors. Whether you are enjoying a sunset, celebrating an island happy hour, or having a relaxing dinner, Virgin Islands Pale Ale is the refreshing beer to enjoy any moment.

OK first off, I like mangoes. Salads, smoothies & lassies, salsa, coulis, you name it. But mango beer?? I knew this would be awful but I was drawn to it like a car accident you can’t look away from. don’t ask me why. the body is pale golden and mostly clear, the head is thick foamy white. the aroma is apricots that never sweetened, dried straw/grass, pale malts, and stale tropical fruit lifesavers. flavor is grainy, skunky pale lager malts, dry grassy apricots that were left refridgerated until they lost all good taste. Mangoes never taste this wrong. watery mouthfeel, finish is artificial banana and perfume, mostly dry. drink at your own risk!

Bottle@virgin island brewery. Small head Amber clear. Synthetic mango notes. Very tropical. Dry sweet. Light body. Interesting but not for me.

From NOTES. Holy mango infused! Tastes more like a wine cooler than a beer...

Pours a clear orange, little to no head or lacing. Hefty mango and pineapple aromas. Somewhat oily mouthfeel. Dull fruity flavors, bland aftertaste. Not very appealing.

12 is. bottle from Buck’s Wholesale on Virgin Gorda, BVI. Copper color, with some seltzer bubbles, but no head. Strong mango nose, with some juniper, cloves, and corn syrup. Sweet and malty, with a pretty awful bitterness. Light body, sticky, and acidic. This was a slightly promising beer from the initial nose, but was unpleasant and difficult to drink.

The beer pours a slightly hazy amber with a small white head that fades quickly. The aroma is heavy on the artificial peach without anything else, and the taste is mildly sweet and slightly sour due to the heavy artificial peach with a not-so-subtle undercurrent of yeast. The palate fuses a soft carbonation, light body, and a thin and slick texture.

Ugh. Tastes like mango juice concentrate gone bad. Maybe if I was in the Virgin Islands and not in Massachusetts in March this would taste better.

Pleasant light mango aroma. Deep golden body with a mild haze. Started with a finger thick head but fades quickly to a thin covering. Strong mango flavor with a mild bitter bite. Thin bodied and well carbonated feel.

Pours gold with a small white head out of the bottle. Aroma is mango, caramel and mango. Taste is sweet with some light tartness. Light bodied and easy to drink...but the taste turns about halfway through and becomes increasingly cloying.

Tasted from tap. Pours a clear amber with white head. Aroma is mango and other tropical fruits. Taste is pretty sweet with obviously mango. Minimal bitterness. Some caramel and tropical fruit tastes as well. Needs a little more bitter bite. Overall below average for pale ale but average for a fruit beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
