COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The inspiration for Virgin Islands Pale Ale came when the beer’s creators, Kevin Chipman and Chirag ’Cheech’ Vyas, began home brewing on the island of St. John. Unsatisfied with the choices of mass produced, bland, watered down beer, the two set out to brew ales that had smoother flavors and a distinct hop finish. After brewing several batches of quality American and European style beers they developed a recipe that captured the essence and taste of the Caribbean. The finished brew, a light ale with a subtle exotic fruit nose and mild hop finish, is the ideal flavor for our tropical climate. Virgin Islands Pale Ale was born. Having created a perfect island ale recipe, the two would like to share their new brew with the Virgin Islands and its visitors. Whether you are enjoying a sunset, celebrating an island happy hour, or having a relaxing dinner, Virgin Islands Pale Ale is the refreshing beer to enjoy any moment.

Got the one from bhensonb. Poured a clear yellow with a small white foamy head and light lacing. Nose of sweet malts and tropical fruit. Fizzy mouthfeel. Fruity mango flavor and soda pop like finish. Drinkable but not very refreshing.

The head is mostly a thin scum over this orange bodied brew. Pleasant mango aroma. Very fruity. The mango and the hops don’t mix well in my opinion. Either this needs to leave out the mango and go Pale Ale or lower the hopping rate and make it a fantastic fruit beer. Subsequent swallows result in the hops being less noticeable. Amply carbonated.

The mango flavor itself is pretty decent but everything else just falls flat, taste too astringent and mildly soapy.

From a bottle poured a pale amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice fruity flavor with a quick finish.

12 bottle, trade with Daknole. Poured carefully into a large glass to find a big head of foam. Under that big fizzy head is a slightly dark golden beer color that we can pretend is pale ale. Smell is okay, basic fruit nose. There is mango here. It’s a mild flavored fruit, so it actually goes well in this beer, giving it a kind of warmly-fermented ale feeling. Beer character is not distinguished, but it lets the fruit work its way in. Just not too exceptional. Starts to taste like fruit extract after a while.

Serving: Draft at the brewpub and in 12 oz. bottles. It pours a nice gold color with a small white head. The nose is all mango. The flavor is heavy on the mango with light tropical fruit notes and a slight bitterness. A bit of graininess emerges as the beer warms. This one is really all about the mango with the rest of the beer serving as more of a backdrop. Not terrible per se, but not my cup of tea. Too much mango, not enough beer.

Bottle from BevMo. Aroma is like a skunked lager somewhat masked by fruitiness. Somewhat refreshing when consumed really cold. Somewhat grainy and bitter with fairly strong fruit character.

Light in color and taste. Fruity, mango aroma and taste. I’m not really into fruity beers and this one was too light to enjoy.

No, Danny. No. Smells like rotten mangoes, angry sweetener, and maggot infested gummy peach rings. Tastes like week-old coffee grounds, mango, dog farts, and cigarettes. I literally gagged on the first sip. Point. Five.

12 ounce bottle, had a decent goldon color with an overpowering mango and tropical fruit syrup aroma. However the flavors of the fruit is light and refreshing, and not as overpowering as the aroma suggests. Decent summer beer in Florida heat.
