Bottle poured into a tulip is gold color with thin white head. Aromas are funk, lemon, tart apple, and a bit of cereal. Taste is funky, lemon, acidic, some cereal maltiness. Finish is dry and crisp. Very good for the price.

375mL bottle with a date of 2011.07.06. Purchased at Rick’s in Alexandria for $5.49 this afternoon. Served in a Grote Dorst mini gueuze tumbler. Pours a clear light golden color with plenty of visible carbonation. Initial foamy white heady quickly recedes to half an inch and has some good staying power. Light lacing and a thin cap throughout. The nose is mostly acidic with a bit of lemon. Not too much funk, and the same goes for the flavor. Nothing off really, just balanced in a different direction than I would go. Light, crisp body with a fairly-heavy lemon-like acidity through the finish, which is quite dry. A decent gueuze, especially for the price.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours golden amber with a white head. Green apple, cheese, chive aroma with a little sweetness balancing out the sour nose very nicely indeed. Very tart, dry flavour. Green apples, lemon juice and lemon sherbet. Dry, sour finish. Pleasant.

Draft at Fountainhead. Rare to see a gueuze on draft. Pours a hazy deep gold with a dissipating white mousse. Nose is a bit odd. Slightly vegetal with a bit of biscuit and vinegar. Bright citrus is there but somehow is just a bit strange. On tasting, nice level of soft tartness and then a big biscuity note before finishing somewhat acetic. Far from the top as far as gueuze goes.

It poured a golden color with a medium white head. The aroma was a bit cidery with some barnyard hints and a good bit of sweat. The flavor was very dry and very sour with a little cider taste.

375ml bottle -

Herring Creek Camping beer tasting - while this wasn’t one of the best gueze’s out there, it was still really nice. Kind of like a Introductory to Gueuze kinda beer. It won’t kick you in the balls with it’s intensity, but it will perk you up and let you know you’re drinking one. Aroma is slightly cheesy, sour, light vomity, hay with just a touch of white wine. Flavor is on the musty side, a little more cheese, medium sourness/lemony, light oak-y-ness with a bone-dry, semi-mouth strippin feel. Love this stuff.

Pours hazy dark golden color with white head. Funky sour aroma. Sour, lactic flavor. Medium body with average carbonation. Pretty good.
