37,5cl bb03-2014, FR Bierhandlung. - Deliciously dirty lambiek-style "geuze fond", offering a full-fledged pot-pourri of what can happen before refined cutting and blending: masses of near-Calvados apple-cidre (pommeau), sour mash-style, disturbed by washes of young, lemonade lactic acid (whey), almond vanilla, apple peel sulphur and a rubbery whiff of burnt tire. Quite some more yoghurt in taste hovering over a sweet almond paste (unmalted wheat) diluted into fresh lemonade, Granny Smith. Watery pockets. Manageable amounts of brett and blue cheese, dryish finish with sticky edges. Another odd one out to thank either greybearded anciens Jef Van Den Steen and/or Michael Jackson for - no match for "fond" Girardin, but bonus points for being an affordable non-Pajottenland geuze.

Surprisingly dark orange color with big white head that goes down very quickly. Aroma is fresh and sour, with some weird dark-maltiness in there. Candied sugar and maybe rhum-like flavours detectable as well. No lambic complexity. Taste is sour, some plums, with a metallic and off-bitter finish. Very aggressive carbonation. The quite present metallic flavours are very off-putting. Something wrong with this bottle? Seriously, I can’t finish this.

Dark orange beer with almost no head. Intense fruity aroma that resembles cognac, notes of grapes and plums. Taste is medium sour with notes of grapes, plums, pears, hints of citrus fruits and wood. Nice beer with a special aroma and taste.

Bottled at Brežiški Festival Piva. Pours a clear darker golden color, topped with a very small white head that soon dissipates. Aroma is soury, winey but not too excessively. Mild sweet fruity start immediately followed by soury and grapey taste. Very nice. Could get used to gueuze that way.

Couleur ambrée trouble, aucune mousse, legers dépots. Nez fruité pomme, rhum ambré! Gout fruité pomme légèrement vertes et aigres avec note de raisin. Sans plus

Bottle 37,5cl, a cloudy copper beer. Nose is on apple and peach with sour notes. Aroma is on ripped peach, tart, grapefruit touch, low body, old mandarine, strange gueuze.

(St. Louis Gueuze Fond Tradition) Bottle 750 ml at home, served into a teku, ABV 6.5% Dark orange colour on the body, with intense activity in the glass, difficult to see as it is quite hazy and even murky when not against the light. Small and thin off-white head on top, with average retention. Great aroma, old wood, spirits, milky somehow, light citrus, range, alcohol after a deep sniff, pears. Sour taste but not extremely so and even some sweet touches towards the finish. Grapes, wood, citrus, very tasty. Medium thin body, high carbonation, slightly tart palate. Very nice.

On draft at HopCat. The pour is a clear-ish golden orange with a thin ring of white head and no lace. The aromas are strange. There is a little window cleaner and some light juices. It's strange. Funky and not traditional gueuze. The flavor is sweet and not really gueuze ish. It's juicy. The mouth feel is thin and light with a lack of carbonation and a lingeringly sweet-ish aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hugely appreciated gift from Kirstie. Really drinkable Gueuze: fruity, juicy, chalky, tangy. Medium length of finish. Good fizz and thickness of gobfeel. Enjoyed.

750ml bottle from beermerchants.com. Hazy amber colour with a pinkish tinge, white foam head and mellow fruity aroma with honey & citric rind. Taste is tart, sour, grainy, sweetish, honey, citrus zest fruity with some funk. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry sour finish. Nicely drinkable.
