Murky orange-brown with green hue and small white head. Looks like swamp water. Sour apple, grapes, sourdough bread, finishes with light herbal notes and unripe fruits. Very light funk, and some cheap bourbon smell. Taste is light acidic, with tart fruit and a hint of sweetness. Medium bodied with slight watery feel. Quite inoffensive but decent gueuze.

Bottle>snifter pours slightly translucent then transparent orange with very thin, fine head. Aroma of sour grapes, white wine, bread. Taste is quickly sour, bready with a light white wine, flowery finish. Mouthfeel is light and dry at the finish. No sour lingering aftertaste. Nice sour

Bottle: Slight haze, golden, copper with no head and very light lace. Funky mineral sour nose. Slight Brett and lactic. Classic. Sour but not volatile or bacterial. Dry, sour and low bitterness. Very crisp, clean, fresh and long. Acid but no carbonation. Lovely clean Gueuze. Crisp quenching drink.

Erzengel (1923) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - FEB 11, 2014
Sehr essighaltiger, holziger Geruch. Der Antrunk ist stark holzig, kaum sauer. Sehr angenehm frisch. Zum Hauptteil wird die Gueuze angenehm voluminös, leicht säuerlich, aber trotzdem angenehm mild und süffig. Der Nachgeschmack ist mild-säuerlich, leicht holzig, angenehm.

On tap at Beachwood BBQ poured into footed tumbler. Appearance is orange-gold with some cloudiness, a thin ring of bubbles, and a few spots of lacing. Aroma is tart citrus, barnyard funk, cider vinegar, and some green apple sweetness. Taste is briefly sweet citrus, quickly replaced by tart vinegar and lemon sourness. The funkiness is there, too, but less than the nose indicated. Medium body, thin texture, active carbonation, crisp, drying, puckering finish.

Bottle: Slightly hazed, dark gold with a tall, off-white head. Green apple, pear, funky aroma. Taste is tart, white grape and apple vinegar. Crisp...tangy. Very sharp.

Appearance: orange/copper/gold, lightly hazed, with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma: citrus, white vinegar, wheat toast, sharp plastic bandaid funk, champagne. Taste: green apple jolly ranchers, lemon zest, champagne, sour lime, a hint of blood orange, some barnyard funk, and a sharp dose of plasticky brett. Finish: the funk vies with traditional gueuze sourness at the last, with a surprise of sweet, bready malts underneath . Notes: Seemed like a pretty standard gueuze. If you like sours, you’ll like this just fine.
