3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JK (3400) - Uptown, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 26, 2008
Brought home from Belgium and aged for an additional year. Pretty weak for a lambic. Some barnyard and very light sourness, much more like a faro than a gueuze. Amber color and loads of sediment in large brown chunks. Some sugar and yeast.

A Mes rate: Draught at Lowlander. Mid brown with a slim white head. Pleasant enough aroma. A nice light sourness, reasonable hoppy notes and a faro like candy sugar sweetness. Flavour is all big tangy sugar and very artificial. Sweet bready finish that is surprisingly dry considering. At best, a tolerable commercial gooz.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Slacks (615) - Bolton, Ontario, CANADA - APR 20, 2008
375ml Bottle: Pours a clear, pale orange colour, good sized white head that reduced to a thin layer until it was done. A sour aroma, apple and pear cider, white wine, peppery spice. Lots of fruity apple and pear in the flavour, obviously sour, but with significant sugar content. Unlike any gueuze I’ve had, not that I’m an expert, but reminds me of what would happen if you poured apple juice and pear cider into a gueuze. Average.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 gnoff (4830) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 19, 2008
(37.5 cl bottle at Café 3 Små Rum, Göteborg) BB 08-2008. On April 18, 2008. Clear pale golden color, big white head. Acidic, apple, nutty scent. Sweet, lactic, slight acidic taste. Smooth mouthfeel, low bitterness. Apple and apricot sweet aftertaste. Taste more like a Faro than a Lambic - gueuze to me.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Nate (3026) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 14, 2008
On draught at Brasserie Beck. Light winey nose, mild cherry wood or oak, and a mild fruity character. Not overly complex or sour, but a decent tangy freshness. Dark golden-amber clear, with very little white foamy head. Medium light body, watery with light carbonation. Starts with very light gueuze profile, mild tarty fruity notes, light oak, and some winey acidity. Bit sugary, and overall a bit watery. Run-o-the-mill quaff.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Gpnterojd (172) - Orangeville, Ontario, CANADA - APR 11, 2008
Smells almost exactly like a McDonald’s cheeseburger. A little bit of sewage works its way into the nose as well -- less than impressive, but points for being interesting. Appears brown, I think, but I’m drinking it from a white mug. White head (heh). Has a cheeseburger taste similar to the aroma. Very sweet and dry. Aftertaste is of grains or cereal. Frankly, it’s made me want a cheeseburger. (Once the initial taste recognition has worn off, I can taste some sour apples and other stuff.)
2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 garthicus (2006) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 24, 2008
Green bottle - LCBO - Big sticker on the side announcing it is artificially flavoured. Amber colour, initially large white head which quickly reduces to a small one. Kind of a sweaty-peppery aroma with a sour tinge, some apple & vodka (?) in there too. What a contrasting taste, like over ripe apples that have been dried and eaten as a snack food, a ’dusty’ finish, little carbonation, just odd. Not what I expected at all.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 french tickler (642) - Aylmer, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 24, 2008
Shared with Pyrozoid. Clear orange/amber poor with a tiny off-white head. Aromas of oranges, sour apples, pine resin, lemon juice and rhubarb. Sweet unexpected for a gueuze... and unexpected after listing the aromas. The acid mouthfeel hits you right off the bat but very quickly switches to a longlasting sweetness and a very faint bitter palate. Acid fruits completes the flavors... but again... slightly to sweet. Good tasting beer but very far from its actual style.
