3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 stouby (2726) - Holbæk, DENMARK - FEB 2, 2008
Bottle at Bjergtrolden.
Orange with a white head, really nice lacings. Aroma moderate malty (fruity, cask). Flavor moderate acidic (like champagne). Light body, watery. Overall impression like a light champagne.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bweezy (53) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 12, 2008
Randomly picked this one in a bar. Was very pleased. Poured Amber, moderate head. My first sip noted that it was sour, but it sweetned by mid-bottle and stayed that way to the end.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 SHIG (2530) - Osan, SOUTH KOREA - JAN 12, 2008
Bottle: Poured a amber color with white head. Aroma has a sourness to it. Taste is sweet to sour hard to describe overall flavor. Mouth remains dry and tingly.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 TBone (9096) - Pori, FINLAND - JAN 11, 2008
Bottled (BB 08/2008)
A bit hazy amber color, very small white head. Tart and sugary aroma, hints of horse saddle. Leathery flavor with tartness in the background ... artifical sweeteners dominate the flavor. There is similarities to those orange-flavored vitamin C -pills. Short finish with plumish notes. As expected from St. Louis -series - not the real MacCoy.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 pootzboy (1284) - Hawgville, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 19, 2007
Not for Lambic purists...but for those unfamiliar with the genre, this is a good starter ale.
Pours hazey- golden-red with a smallish cap that laces well
Aroma od musty burlap, herbs and sweetness.
Tastes like a well blended gueuze but the sweetness is a tad annoying..it has all the musty-earthy tones and herbal balance from long boil aged hops and the tart dryness of a lambic but the added sweetness seems phony.
No reason to discount this as a serious lambic blend...but it is best suited to turning on your wife or friends to this style.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Maria (7805) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 10, 2007
Deep amber with an OK head. The aroma is acidic. The flavour is initially sour in a fresh and typical way, but then comes sweetness, caramel and fruit along. The sweetness is too strong for this kind of beer...
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DonMagi (5599) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2007
Bottle after cellar accident shashed the neck off the bottle so i filtered it through a tea towel and got about 75ml. Aroma is reminisant of a flemish sour more than a lambic, tart cider vinigar and some funky hints, some sweet balsalmic notes also. Taste is sweet and sour, vinigar more than sour funk, still quite nice. My cuboard stinks of it now.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 kmweaver (3025) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - NOV 16, 2007
25cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Thanks, Henrik! Pours a murky, muddy brownish color; light tan head with patchy lacing. Overripe fruits and apple juice in the aroma; minimal tartness, funkified sugar. Medium mouthfeel: slightly tart / spoiled apple juice and lemony citrus and a biscuity / flabby malt core; tart, sugary apple juice. Medium, tart apple and dusty finish.
