3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Countbeer (1686) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - APR 25, 2011
Bottle:
Big white head on top of a clear yellow orange beer.
Smell sweets, grains, fruit and a hint of yeast.
Taste is more sweet than sour: grains, yeast, wheat, wood, yellow fruit, sweet and sugars.
Aftertaste of grains and sweets.
Medium carbo, soft tingly mouthfeel, medium body and a light watery texture. Not that sweet, still too sweet for a gueuze.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Bierkrug (1644) - Idar-Oberstein (In Senegal), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - MAY 7, 2011
440 ml bottle in Germany but found in Belgium. Light copper in color with a short white head. Suprising malt aroma, mild caramel there! A few earthy notes behind. Taste is quite sweet, with some toasted caramel notes. Finish is very slightly sour, yet not tart or acidic. Refreshing if a little thin in feel. I enjoyed this desert beer.

Light amber and hazy in colour. Moderate prickly carbonation. Aromas of lemons, wet leather, and wet cedar wood. Very different in the mouth with notes of sticky sweet pale malts, stale hops, plastic, and apple skins. Too sweet and not funky or complex enough. At least it smelled not too bad. Thanks to lubiere for the extra!

375 ml bottle from the LCBO. i was surprised to find a gueuze available at the lcbo and pick this up with high expectations. pours light amber with a medium white head. aromas are sweet and sour but no real funk that i was hopping for. flavours are ok and moderatly complex. sweet gives way to some sourness leading to a dry finish. ok i guess but not what i was expecting and i hope to try some better gueuze soon.
