Slacks (355), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Apr 20, 2008 375ml Bottle: Pours a clear, pale orange colour, good sized white head that reduced to a thin layer until it was done. A sour aroma, apple and pear cider, white wine, peppery spice. Lots of fruity apple and pear in the flavour, obviously sour, but with significant sugar content. Unlike any gueuze I’ve had, not that I’m an expert, but reminds me of what would happen if you poured apple juice and pear cider into a gueuze. Average.
wilderthanyou (303), Guelph, Ontario, Canada Jul 5, 2008 Oh man, I avoided buying this beer for the longest time because I was pretty sure it was a waste of 4 dollars. And I was right. Pours a deep golden colour with a thin white lightly sticky head. The aroma is some weird funkiness, some metallic notes, and something very sweet. The flavour is pretty funky aswell, some bruised apple, some off sourness, and a butt load of sugar. Very syrupy mouthfeel, most likely from all the sugar. A pretty nasty beer all and all. jgb9348 (1793), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Jul 2, 2008 Nice clean crisp golden amber coloured body with a thinnish white head. Aroma of hay, sour grapes, wheat, honeysuckle, vinegar and a tiny bit of malt. Light-bodied; Nice sour flavour up front with a good yeastie finish coupled with the vinegar and slightly sweet flavours you’d expect. Aftertaste shows some puckering, along with musty and grassy flavours throughout. Overall, a good gueuze - sweet and sour at the same time with a modestly meaty body. I sampled this 37.5 cL ’split’ bottle purchased from Bier Tempel in Bruxelles, Belgium on 02-January-2008 sampled on my birthday 30-June-2008. Imperial-John (75), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Jun 21, 2008 Amber with foamy white head that thins quickly. Light fruit aroma like cider. Very refreshing bubbly light fruity taste. Not too sweet or dry. Pleasantly surprised and looking forward to other gueuzes if this one is rated so low. Marsiblursi (1270), Göteborg, Sweden Jun 18, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a grayish amber colour. The aroma is sourish, tart and citric with notes of wood, mold, basement, chemicals, tart unripe tropical fruits, toasty malt and hints of stable. The flavour is medium sweet and light to medium tart and acid. Some wood, mold and vinegar. Fruity undertones of apples and light citrus. Soft carbonation. Medium dry finish. Light to medium bodied. thewolf (3392), Kolding, Denmark Jun 17, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Belgisk Bryg, Cph.
Pours a beautiful clear orange with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma has lots of citric tartness, good apple notes and a feel of Belgian sugars. Light feel and highly carbonated. Flavour is extremely mild, lightly citric tart. It isn’t sweet as fx chapeau, but just non-existent.
