COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For 6 months the flesh of the fresh sour cherries slowly digests in the Lambic. The intense flavour of cherries and light nuances of almond from the pits determine the flavour of this fruity delicacy.

Note: ABV from 4.5% to 4% at some point.

22nd Febuary 2008. Hmmm. My rating is going to stick out like a sore thumb - I will try and set the scene. This was drunk at the end of a very long beer day including an evening in the Kulminator sampling old dark and often bitter beers. This beer was a real fresh breeze and blew me away with itís intense cherry. Itís sharp but doesnít induce a wince. Fruity but not cloying. The cherry is somewhere between fresh cherry and morello cherry. Loved it!

Bottle from Cindireneís. Pours turbid ruby with fizzy off-pink head. Nose is tart cherry, earthy. Tastes of tart cherries, with a flavor that starts sweet and ends a bit tarter, and the last dregs arenít as sweet as the first half of the bottle. Went well with a few Hershey kisses.

25cl bottle. Pours a clear ruby colour with bubbly pink head. Aroma is cherry and a bit of tart. Flavour is fruity, too sweet, with a bit of bitterness in the finish. Sweet aftertaste. Medium body and medium-high carbonation.

Bottle from the back of the fridge thatís a year or two old. Drank side by side with Lindemanís. Cloudy dark red pour with a huge pink head. Sweet cherry aroma with a hint of tartness. Malty and sweet cherry flavor with some tartness in the finish. Lindemanís won this contest, but neither can touch Belgian Red.

bottle (vieux bruxelles) 25 cl, amber/dark red colour with pink head. Smell: cherries, sweetness and a bit unpleasant rust smell. Taste: far too sweet, cherries, a bit grainy and very boring. But for a beer from íthe aldií is it ok!

Sampled in Potsdamn. A pretty good Kriek but overall average compared to other Belgian styles. Still, bubbly and good solid flavors.

Botle, 25 cl, bought in the Aldi with the name "Vieux Bruxelles Kriek Lambic". If this beer I bought in the Aldi is indeed the same as this St Louis Kriek (itís indeed from the same brewery), than itís a whole difference with his "big brother" St Louis Premium. The beer looks red, with a little pink head. The smell is clearly the one of cherries and sugar, but a bit ímuffyí, unfresh. And so it goes with the taste: cherries and sugar. Thereís nothing bad with the taste, but itís sweet, too sweet for me and after a while an unnice aftertaste comes hanging in your mouth a bit. The sweet afterstaste also keeps hanging in your mouth for a while. But in the end: give me the Premium, because itís much better.
