2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
250ml bottle. Labeled as Vieux Bruxelles Kriek Lambik at 4% abv. Beautiful deep red body with a decent pink head. Aroma of artificial cherries and marzipan, not to bad actually. Flavor is sweet cherry, marzipan and almonds. I really prefer a kriek with a prude acid/brett flavor, but as a sweet candy version it’s almost OK for a few sips.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
At Three cellars tasting (Thanks Shawn!!). This one had a strange odor I couldn’t quite pin down… not a very pleasant odor. Light red in appearance, semi-sweet and tart in drinking. I haven’t had too many Lambics, though this one is not one of the better ones, just okay.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle. (Nousuvesi, Espoo)
Bright orangy red, tiny head. Potent cherry aroma, a bit juicy, sweet and with a hint of almond too. Very powerful cherry taste, very sweet and sticky. As it fades, there’s an interesting malty lambic body (slight wood/vanilla or other soft feeling), though not as bretty as most lambics would be. Alas the cherry dominates after the first sip, so if you missed the malt first time, you’ll not get it again.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
draft- definite medicinal robotusin like flavors. a sweetness/tartness balance that was quite nice. Surprised by the very low ratings here.

on tap- Deep red color with no head. Sour cherry aroma. Big cherry flavor with some sourness and wine like tart/dryness to it. Medium mouth feel and properly carbonated. Dry finish leaves you wanting another.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle 33 cl. Pours a pale red with a very nice pink head. Unfortunately this Lambic looks a lot better than it tastes. You can smell the sugar and sweeteners, they ruin the aroma. And the flavor is also totally dominated by both sugar and artificial sweeteners. You can’t taste the natural sweetness and sourness of the cherries.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Poured a ruby red with a light red color head. The aroma is cherry sorta mixed sour and sweet which fools the nose. Taste is a cherry with similar sour/sweet changes in malt.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma of artificially sweet, maraschino cherry syrup. Raspberry brown color; nice lingering head. Tastes like a very sweet cherry soda. Almost an artificial sweetner flavor. On the bottle it says "Belgian ale brewed with cherries, lambic spontaneous fermentation." I’m not tasting any significant Brett or funk...there is some sourness to it, but it’s sweeter than a Flemish Red like the Duchesse de Bourgogne or Monks Sour. Despite the somewhat cloying sweetness there is some sourness, like those little round red sour cherry candies. It’s super sweet, cloying, seemingly artificial cherry flavored with Jolly Rancher apple candy notes, but, I can see how some would enjoy this. Certainly not an Oud Beersel, Boon, Cantillon or Drie Fonteinen which are more authentically sour, funky and distinct.
