For 6 months the flesh of the fresh sour cherries slowly digests in the Lambic. The intense flavour of cherries and light nuances of almond from the pits determine the flavour of this fruity delicacy.

Note: ABV from 4.5% to 4% at some point.

St Louis Kriek Lambic, 4.0%, 25 cL bottle. Pours clear and deep imperial red with a lacing pink head. Dense cherry aroma, sulphorish and lending towards almonds. Flavour is sweet and acidic, intense cherry flavour. Holds a mild sulphorish dryness. Goes from sweet to acidic/citric into dry and sulphorish finish.

A red beer with a good head. The aroma is the sour and sharp aroma that suits a kriek. The flavor is soft and on the other hand sharp like a kriek should be and ofcourse with notes of cherry. A really good kriek.

(Bottle 25 cl) Medium red with a dense almost greasy head. Fresh flavours with the cherries being very present. Although this has some sweetness it never cloys, actually I find this pleasantly dry although it’s a commercial Kriek. 010799

Bottled. Red colour, reddish small head. Nice cherry and cookies mix in aroma. A bit bitter cherry flavour at first, but the more you drink the more pleasant the flavour is. Easy to drink.

22nd Febuary 2008. Hmmm. My rating is going to stick out like a sore thumb - I will try and set the scene. This was drunk at the end of a very long beer day including an evening in the Kulminator sampling old dark and often bitter beers. This beer was a real fresh breeze and blew me away with it’s intense cherry. It’s sharp but doesn’t induce a wince. Fruity but not cloying. The cherry is somewhere between fresh cherry and morello cherry. Loved it!

Bottle. Ruby red color, medium pink coca cola head. Aroma of cherries and lemon. Taste starts sweet, then sour, with an overlay of spice, maybe clove. Interesting.

Tap at the Evening Star, Brighton. Pours a dark, vibrant red with a soft, light pink head. Has a sweet, fruity nose with distinct cherries. Flavor is very sweet, a bit syrupy and medicinal, with strong and slightly artificial cherries. Light bodied with effervescent carbonation. Finishes fruity and sweet with just the faint suggestion of earthy bitterness. Alright.

Cherry-red, with a pink head. Sweet aroma from cherry. Flavor is sweet too, and a little sourish at the end. I dont think I ever will understand whats so good about the fruitbeers like this one
