St. Louis Premium Kriek is a kriekenbier, or cherry beer, made on a lambic base. A quarter of St. Louis Premium Kriek is the juice of Obacinska krieken cherries that have been steeped in gueuze for six months. It also has a smaller proportion of St. Louis Kriek Fond Tradition. This beer is a thirst-quencher with a low alcohol content and, in the nose, overwhelmingly sweet aromas of krieken cherries. It’s very fruity with a hint of sourness and slight touches of almond coming from the krieken cherry stones.

Overall disappointing, the taste is more on the sweet cherry ’Lindemans’ side of the Kriek street than the drier more austere Boon or Leifmans. Doesn’t have the complexity of a good lambic.

250ml into wine glass. Looks like cherry juice with a persistent but thin carbonation. Nose is cough medicine. In the mouth, cough medicine mixed with cherry flavor. Barest hint of bitterness in the back gives way to sweetness. Should’ve known better when I saw "sweetened with Stevia" on the bottle. Really, you’d be better off making a highball with Cherry Herring. At least the cherry flavor reads as real cherry and not artificial?

Nice strong cherry in aroma and taste. Light palate, but full of cherries. What ever that means. A bit of tartness in middle somewhere. Ends more sweeter. It’s drinkable.

250ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Clear cherry red colour with no yeast sediments; Less than one quarter finger head with residual soapy off-pink foam which fades in 10 seconds; Good sticky lacing with barely notable slight carbonation; Fragrant sweet and tart aroma of malt, with cherry fruits and juice, blackcurrant, yoghurt tartness, acidic, perfume, barrel and tannic; Pleasant tart and sweet taste of malt, with strong dark cherry juice and flesh, fair yoghurt tartness, carbo, sugar, light barrel and light tannic; Light body. Thin and slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is close to rich maltyness in a watery background. light wheaty with fair tartness Lots of full juicy cherry flesh. Strong sweetness but not cloying, well countered by fruit and lambic’s acidity. Pretty good!... Hoppiness is no nose and taste. Fair tannic for abrupt, yoghurty tart and sweet finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: Just like the Premium Framboise, this one has strong malty and intense fruity character which mixed well with lambic tartness. In this case the cherry has fresh fruity, just a tad sweeter. Enjoyable for a sweet fruit lambic!

Bottle at home. Almost clear ruby with pink head, looks nice. Lots of sweet cherries, cherry lemonade and candy, marzipan, some dust and hay. Really not much more, except a light chemical touch in the finish. Quite sweet and under medium bitter. Medium bodied. Typical sweetened artificial kriek.

Ganske god Kriek fra St. Louis. Frisk smag af kirsebær. Passende lav alkohol-pct. For sød som andre kriek

250ml bottle from Club de Cervezas. Pours a deep ruby red color with a minimal pinkish fizzy head that vanishes after a few seconds. Aroma is basically cherries, but quite clean, nice without being sugary or syrupy. It’s a bit lactic and fresh. Taste is pleasant, mild tartness with some non intrusve sweetness. Good balance and the cherries integrate amazingly well. It’s not something I would kill to drink, but it’s one of the few good Krieks I’ve tried. Medium body, carbonation is soft but is presence is shown very well. Easy to drink. Smooth and mild. A very pleasant Kriek, much better than the cheap fruit lambics I tried before like Chapeau or Floris.
