maekchu (1090) - Hirakata, JAPAN - OCT 3, 2012
Bottle from local Sake Marche. Lots of yeast in the aroma. also slightly lemony. Cloudy dull green-tinged yellow with a big puffy head and very thick lacing. Sharp yeasty and sourish initial; mid palate goes tangy with citrus; finish is a little bitter. Medium body. A bit too heavy on the yeast -- and not terribly pleasant. Like a bitter fizzy fruit soda.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow body with a medium head. Sweet yeasty aroma with some clovey esters. Sweet yeasty taste with some banana. Good carbonation and palate. Feels a bit like a witbier.

Gently citrus or even a weird banana aroma, golden, hazy, light sweetness, lightly sour. Was expecting a bit more, but an OK beer.

Bottle @ home. Big vast, a little bit creamy white head on top of a yellow / golden colored beer. Smell some lemon or citrus, slightly sweet and orange peel. Taste citrus/lemon-fruityness, sweetness and slightly bitter. Suitable carbonation, low to medium body. Easy to drink, refreshing blond. Better than expected.

Wombata (331) - Kobe, JAPAN - SEP 13, 2011
Bottle. Aroma: Dusty wheat, yeast, lemon rind, light spiciness, faint malt and possibly candy sugar Palate: Creamy, smooth mouth feel Flavor: Wheat, understated pear and lemon chiffon. Finishes with more wheat, light malt and yeast. Comments: Easy drinking. A "safe" but good intro to Abbey Ales. Good balance. Though not intense, powerful nor complex, it has a persistent white head and a good mouth feel.

330ml bottle (Stockmann, Tallinn)
6 Pleasant soft bready aroma.
4 Hazy blond, large head. Glad it survived the brief freeze while my fridge was set to max.
7 Simple, but very tasty bready body. Yeasty and lemony retronasals.
4 Super smooth palate, but with nice carbonation. Finish is bready, but packs a wicked bitter tingle.
14 Bready and bitey, pretty much bang on for a Belgian blond.

13/07/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 3/5/13 (2011-323)

Cloudy yellow to light beige beer, off-white creamy head, stable and bit adhesive. Aroma: grapefruit, lemon zest, dish washing soap, reminds a bit of a Hoegaarden witbier. MF: too much carbon, light to medium body. Taste: lots of citrus, almost artificial lemony flavour. Not really bad, but somewhat one dimensional. Aftertaste: bit watery, more citrus and sour hops. Weird they call this a blond abbey beer.
