Huge beige coarseish head. Deep amber body with carbonation. Light yeasty, bready aroma of licorice and cinnamon with peppery notes. Sweetish bready licorice taste with peppery notes and very faint hints of banana. A bit watery. Carbonates in the mouth, giving a sharpish feel. Dryish papery licorice aftertaste with hints of chocolate and wood. Boring and watery. (0.33l bottle from the wine monopoly.)

330ml bottle. Lovely dark amber body with big light beige head. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, brown sugar, spices and yeast. Flavor is much the same as the aroma, very harmonic and typical Belgium. Medium body and low bitterness, noting to demanding here, but just very pleasant and not to sweet.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 OleR (3510) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 18, 2007
330 ml bottle. A clear reddish brown beer with a slowly diminishing big tan head. Pleasant and mellow aromas of fruit, semi-dry malts and mild spices. Taste is well rounded; light malty, light caramellish with notes of dry fruitiness, mild spices with a touch of gentle hops. Body is light plus. Ends up with some spicy and fairly bitter notes. A well composed, easy drinkable and harmonic Belgian. Yum.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sigmund (3495) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - SEP 28, 2007
330 ml fancy & slim dark green bottle, as St. Paul Speciale, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet). ABV is 5.5%. Brown to amber coloured beer, huge beige head. Nice fruity and yeasty aroma, notes of cloves and other spices. Pleasant flavour, spicy and moderately oaky, notes of malts and caramel too. Not too sweet. Very moderate hops. The mouthfeel is maybe a bit thin, particularly in the finish. Not extreme in any way, but a quite enjoyable Belgian.
