COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A top-fermenting golden strong beer of 7.6% ABV, that is very firm-bodied, fruity-dry and assertive. It has a fine hop-aroma (dry-hopping is used) and a splendid apertif bitterness in palate and finish.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2005 Bottle. small white fizzy head that quickly dissipated, fine, small & large sized bubbles, sparse lacing, carbonated, hazy, and a light orange hue. Aroma was sweet, fruity, hoppy and alcohol. Flavor was sweet, malty, fruity, vinuous, and efferervescent. Tingly mouthfeel. Medium body.

Unusual take on a Tripel, my notes seem one for a Best Bitter than anything Belgian. Tasted from the bottle and poured into a chalice around cellar temp. (just the way I like them). Massive rocky head formed, quite dense and almost frozen in its position, leaving behind odd glugs of lace in its wake. The body of beer a hazy deep gold with a bad case of the floaties. Spicy and zesty, soft pulped fruit like mango and peaches in the aroma with a strong waft of haystack malt and bready yeast. Unexpectedly malty in the mouth; toasted and sweet caramelised malts, toffee and a light hint of vanilla. Hops seemed instep with the malt; softly floral, tangy and lightly bitter in the back just prior to the swallow. Finish was rather short with a little tangy peach and mango hitting the top of the mouth. Alcohol was well hidden and to it’s credit it was an easy drinker. Just don’t know why it’s labelled a Tripel. (50cL lacquered bottle, bottling date unknown)

A simple, easy-quaffing Belgian tripel. Presents well in the chalice: burnt orange with a thick suspension of proteins and a tall souffle head. Good head retention and clumpy lace. Fruity tripel nose showing mango and pineapple. Maybe a splash of caramel sauce. Bit too much like tinned fruit - peach syrup or similar. Nice soft mouthfeel. Medium bodied, verging on thin. Sweet and citric on the tongue with some bready malts, a late dab of hoppy bitterness, clove and alcoholic bite. Dry in the finish. Very easy drinking for its 7.6% abv, but there’s not enough going on here to elevate it to the top flight in its style. (33cl bottle, IBS Perth)

Oh boy, lager, lager, lager, lager......... Save me St Paul from these thy daily drainpours. The last good one was your bother the Dubbel. Are you some salvation, some light, some redemption from the blight that is St Ale of the Pale? Well to some extent. While the lower ABV was darker and fruity this one is like a Duvel without finesse. Too effervescent and not delightfully fruity, this has a good presentation in the glass but there is something amiss. At least a good beer to finish the night but it does not cap it off.

Sweet caramel matiness and dried fruits. Ends with a bitter surprise. Some spiciness and yeast profile. A little thin.

Poured clear amber with small head and a lot of sediment in the bottle. Spiritous aroma with a hint of yeast. Taste was sweet, malty and alcoholic, followed by slight bitterness.

Bottle. Hazy gold colour with a slim white head and floaties. Hoppy and fruity aroma with some malt. Spicey and dry taste, with a lightly bitter finish. Medium bodied, low to moderate carbonation. Some late warming alcohol. Good.
