Two row spring barley from the south of England, a special strain of yeast, ice-age glacier water from the "Rotenburger Rinne," plus hops from the famous "Hallertau Hop Gardens" in southern Germany are the ingredients that give St. Pauli Girl Lager its unsurpassed quality and taste and keeps you coming back for more.

(Bottle, compliments of Grube deck party). Obviously, not the pinnacle of German craft brewing. A thin lager marketed to the American palate. Not offensive, but just another macro brew.

Bottle to pint. Lotta haters in the house for this beer. Rating a shitty craft over an excellent lager is beyond me... Looks fine; nothing special, but not bad either. Smells bitter like it should. Tastes like it smells with a decent Mouthfeel. Underrated.

Very light yellow color, frothy head. Creamy malt body witha little hop bitter. Weak and thin overall.

Really earthy smell, light taste, bitter after taste. This is an easy beer to dring. Definitely a beer you can drink at home with friends around a fire.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a clear, light gold color with a foamy white head that had below average retention and low cling, with decent lacing. The aroma featured a mild blend of earthy and grainy hops with some touches of malt and barley. Its taste was modestly bitter with grainy and earthy notes, along with touches of malt and a slight sour effect. It was a light, thin beer with a light mouthfeel, below average carbonation, and was a touch on the dry side.

Pretty average stuff, not impressed. Bottle at local sports bar on list of beers to try.....they need a new list.

330ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a finger of white head that leaves a few specks of lacing. Aroma is cereal grains and grassy hops with a bit of skunk. Taste is cereal grain sweetness with some grassy hop bitterness and a skunkiness. A step up from the typical macro lager, this is quite a pleasant pilsner if you can get past the light skunkiness.

Test vom 4.1.2011, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,6,6,5,13,6 - 6,60

At the lower end of the German beer market, but this pils is still good for a few.

This beer tastes more like water than nearly ever other beer I’ve ever tried, and I’ve been through a variety of lagers - I’d put it above Busch Light or Michelob Ultra, but not Miller or Bud, honestly. In fact, upon first sip, there is virtually no flavor; you have to wait about ten seconds before some minor aftertase kicks in, and it isn’t much. Even worse, this beer has an absolutely skunky smell when you first open it, sort of like Heineken; the green bottle doesn’t help. The alcohol content is 4.9%, though you’d think it was about 2% with this kind of water flavor. Do not be fooled by its slightly elevated reputation - this really isn’t any better than most other macro light lagers.
