Two row spring barley from the south of England, a special strain of yeast, ice-age glacier water from the "Rotenburger Rinne," plus hops from the famous "Hallertau Hop Gardens" in southern Germany are the ingredients that give St. Pauli Girl Lager its unsurpassed quality and taste and keeps you coming back for more.

Strong, skunky aroma with a slightly sweet finish in the nose. Medium-bodied. Surprisingly smooth with clover honey notes. Lightly carbonated finish that is both balanced and ever so slightly sweet. Superior to Heineken. Have I rated this brew too high? Will try again.

Slightly skunky aroma and flavor. Fairly well-balanced lager, with some clingy bitter aftertaste. Very pale. Thin.

I rank this right up there with Beck’s. Or should I say DOWN there. It just tastes harsh, strong and skunky. The bitterness actually improves this one. It’s the lesser of several evils.

This was not the greatest tasting beer i could have bought a case of natural light if i wanted that atrocious flavor.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2003 All-around average beer. There are much better Pilsners out there that are less skunky.

Maybe this beer does just not travel well as it frequently seems skunked. Light, unbalanced, and bitter (sometimes more than others, this beer has ok carbonation and a good crispness. However, I find little or worth in this beer.

Definitely Heinekenisch and bit wetter. Among big commercial brews, this is more proof that less is slightly more. In other words, less harm, less foul.

Good German beer, easy transition from American’s to this beer.
